For women who gave birth via an elective caesarean section, black Caribbean women were 58% more likely to be given a GA compared to white women. Black African women were 35% more likely to be given a GA.
Shocking inequalities. We should be ashamed of ourselves #maternity

The care that health professionals give you in maternity must respect your dignity and your freedom to make decisions about yourself (this freedom is called autonomy).
Sarah is such a special soul & I count myself lucky to know her & her beautiful family. Please give anything you can so she can have more time.
My wonderful friend Sarah was diagnosed with incurable bowel cancer last year. She is going to have to start paying for treatment that’s not free on NHS. Every donation helps and gives her more time with her daughter Bea ❤️ donate here: gofund.me/e372b2d6

Did you know that there is a word, coined in 1973 by medical anthropologist Dana Raphael, to describe the huge physiological and psychological transition that women make when they become mothers?
That word is 'Matrescence'.

At some point in all our lives we will be kept alive by a nurse. Morally and practically we should pay them properly. Yet my nursing colleagues have had a decade of real terms pay cuts - I support the #nursingstrike - it’s not about politics it’s about public health. Some say…

I so wish @NNUH would adopt the Optibreech study. The dedicated home birth team are such an incredible asset & would be phenomenal at supporting in-hospital breech birth physiology. I was lucky enough to hear @SisterShawnRM present to NNUH midwives & obstetricians 1/2

2/3 for @MvpNorwich representing service users. Birthing pole/women want this. There will always be those who choose vaginal breech birth. We simply must do our best to be able to support & optimise that choice safely & without judgement. Shawn’s training sounded fantastic;
3/3 Her methods seemed robust, simple, biomechanically logical & supportive. I know I’m a lay person, but for the life of me I cannot fathom why every HCP isn’t doing all they can to further their knowledge through being involved with the Optibreech trial. #breechbirth
