At least now maybe the entire world will finally realize holy shit this AI stuff is absolutely fucking insane and we all need to take it really really really seriously
Maybe
Prolly not though
SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios.
The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios.
Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said.
Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior.

A look at how the new PaperTrade fees work (source: claude says trust me bro)
> nothing unexpected, it's as jez said
> impacts winning trades up to 6bp in normal hours
> and up to 10bp in quiet hours
> no difference to 10bp+ trades
> no difference to losses
> tbd what the normal/quiet hours are, and they can change whenever the team wants them to
> there's now an 'underwater mode' that will distribute up to 5x PAPER based on how long the pool is underwater
Basically RIP to the bots that were scalping these moves
I had some of these bots running (with mixed but generally promising-looking results)
Was fun while it lasted, ggwp on to the next
Will still use papertrade cause i'm a degenerate and sometimes you just wanna click 1000x
These changes were 100% necessary for the longevity and health of the protocol
It's an insanely difficult and ambitious thing they're trying to build here, gl to them
One of the best tweets I’ve read on this app
Everyone is always rooting for you. Your parents want you to be a great son. Wife wants you to be a great husband. Your boss wants you to be a slam dunk hire. Every first date you’ve ever been on they’ve been rooting for you to get laid. Every time you started to tell a joke people hoped it would have a hilarious punch line. Your proximity to anyone is a reflection of themself, meaning the deck is never stacked against you, and your failures are completely your own
Readers added context they thought people might want to know

Pumped to be partnering with @Arcium on the launch of Blackthorn, their new private AI infrastructure. Always happy to help put a legit team in front of more people, so here’s a quick explainer on what they do and why it’s important.
Most private AI today runs your prompts on a GPU, with the keys to the GPU held inside a CPU enclave (a TEE). CPU enclaves work well for a lot of use cases, but they put all the trust in a single piece of hardware, and if that hardware is ever compromised, every prompt and output behind it can be exposed. For anyone who needs the strictest privacy guarantees, that’s a lot to rest on one point of failure.
Blackthorn takes the CPU TEE out of the trust chain and replaces it with MPC (multi-party computation). MPC splits a secret into pieces and hands each piece to a different party, so no single machine ever holds the full key. A reasonable analogy is a multi-sig vs a single-key wallet. One compromised party isn’t enough to bring the whole thing down.
MPC is Arcium’s bread and butter. Their network on Solana has already run around 3M encrypted computations, and their main MPC protocol is built so your data stays private as long as a single node in the group stays honest (rather than needing a majority).
This opens the door for anyone sitting on data too sensitive for regular AI. Hospitals, banks, governments, companies protecting their own models, etc.
They’re in private alpha for now, with access rolling out over the coming days, so I’ll be keeping an eye on them (and recommend you do too). Privacy and AI are arguably the two strongest narratives of this entire cycle, and Arcium is one of the projects with real tech in both.

EtherFi vs Tria, both great cards

totally agree with this post
"buy cool things that ppl use, made by good ppl. simple as"
almost a year later, kinda wanna revisit this
the title reads like a direct counter to long degeneracy, but that's not really what i was going for - i may or may not have clickbaited. long degen is more of an investment thesis about owning casinos (which i agree with, s/o jez), while short degen is from a trader / gambler pov about knowing when to leave the table
i think it's fair to say gambling has been pretty -ev since the article. perps have gotten increasingly difficult and memecoins are becoming a more solved game with lower ceilings. there's been plenty of opportunities to compound wealth recently, but i haven't seen many newly minted gambling millionaires
the framing i was going for was more of a call to return to long-term games, whether that's building something or developing better trading habits, rather than trying to gamble your way to millions. the glory days of that are behind us sadly, at least until there's a net new game and we get another pumpfun or hyperliquid moment
definitely sucks, i enjoy nothing more than making a ton of money gambling in a new, inefficient market. still not really sure what the next game is or if we even get one. we've seen attempts at new games, but they've mostly been reframings of or things built on top of existing ones: stock pairs, 1000x lev, etc. cool things, but not quite the 0 -> 1 moment needed to create an entirely new game
guess going forward the focus continues to be on thesis-driven trading/investing until there's something new where you can turn your brain off and gamble. can probably still long existing casinos and do well. don't think shorting casinos is ever a great trade, given how reflexive they can be in risk-on conditions. think the best way to express short degeneracy is just practicing better habits and playing better, longer-term games. more or less, un-fry yourself

gud thread on papertrade
A thread on @papertrade_xyz , or as I like to think of it
Schrödingers ponzi
What's it worth? (if anything at all)
How to value it?
How to farm it (not by losing on purpose, thats retarded)

"use lots of tokens" is one of my favourite things to say to claude these days
i'll only say it once every few days on average but when i want something that involves deep research or a really solid result, it never ceases to amaze me how well it does
still not often hitting usage limits either
hear hear
we like and want founders to experiment and try new and cool onchain shit
and everyone is always gonna try and compete to make money and some will win and some will lose and the rules will sometimes change and it’s always chaos with this shit
no crying in the casino
No strong opinion on $PAPER or @papertrade_xyz, but I think it's very wrong to attack @izebel_eth and team
They made it abundantly clear up front that this was going to be very experimental, and they listed out several possible issues/exploits in the docs.
Constructive criticism is fine, but let's not attack the people trying cool new shit. We want more experimental and ambitious stuff being attempted on chain, not less.
Failure, especially in uncharted territory, doesn't equal scamming. This goes for a lot of other founders who catch shit for having failed in past endeavors too.
if hyperliquid is the AWS of all of finance, then papertrade could be the AWS of all high leverage speculation money games on the internet
know ive been tweeting about this a lot but really think papertrade could be a generational setup
high leverage perps are crypto's most profitable product to date, demand for speculation is not going to go away
ability to open/close synthetic 1000x positions w/ no market impact is a novel mechanism, paired w/ the house-trader relationship where trader losses fund the onchain LP, & all losses after a certain LP cap get paid out to traders staking the platform's native paper token - can see how this can maintain traction longterm, already at 50M+ paid out to $PAPER stakers in first week
every other perp dex's revenue comes from a small take rate on the fees of volume, no perp dex has been able to monetize directly trader losses, of which it's been shown is a much larger number, in theory winners should be able to easily get paid out from house LP over time as high leverage has a difficult success rate, ideal state is that its closer to 50/50 winners/losers after a certain LP cap and even then its a much better model allowing traders to own the house
what's more interesting tho is that the model should be able to be extensible to other games outside of just perpetual futures, the online gambling industry is massive, and none of the online casinos are +EV for users, every major online casino is -EV as thats how the house makes money by creating games that are slightly better probabilistically for the house and monetizing losses over time, with papertrade it should be possible to let people speculate on other similar games with the same model as losses going back directly to paper stakers instead of just to the house - so im curious to see what team is thinking of here
if hyperliquid is the AWS of all of finance, then papertrade could be the AWS of all high leverage speculation money games on the internet, will be cool to see how the next several months play out, dont think people have gone deep enough on the possibilities with one of the first novel onchain experiments in awhile that also rewards its most active participants
