one of my biggest takeaways from the jez interview, and i'm shocked i hadn't heard of or thought of it before, is the vpip analogy from poker almost everyone would be better off with a lower vpip in poker, and the same is true for trading make fewer bets, make better bets

I made use of Zeneca’s crypto card finder website recently and it was very insightful in helping me decide the best card for my usage: - amount I typically spend in a month - card rewards tiers - cashback in what crypto e.g. stables or a native token - effective cashback after factoring in FX rates highly recommend if you’re on the lookout for a crypto card

same feelings and I'm 3 months in. my results so far… screen time: 4-5 hrs vs. 12+ steps: 12k a day vs. 6k food: whole food vs. fast food + alcohol exercise: kettlebell workouts vs. none sleep: 8-9 hrs vs. 4-5 lost 9 lbs of fat, way less stressed, and happiest I've been in a long while. that said… being healthy is boring af. discipline builds what you want in life but it isn't always exciting. it's funny though. I can no longer sit at a desk for six plus hours. the desire is just gone and I can’t fully put it into words. it took me a while to stop assessing that as a motivation problem too. 4-5 hours is now my new ceiling. and it may very well change, but in the meantime I'm automating everything I can with AI. the work has to fit inside these hours or I risk going back to the habits that got me to a poor mental state. everything that used to survive on hour 12 of screen time is dead and probably deserved to be. it was slowly killing me. the last few years of building and creating content have been remarkable and I'm not going anywhere, but things weren't working the way I wanted and I knew I was burning out. we weren't meant to process the speed of every AI release while glued to a screen all day. some of us can handle it in phases, but it wears you down. truth is I’m still working out how to reignite my content creation in spite of it. the health stuff is the only thing on my mind lately, so I wanted to talk about it with y'all. and maybe that's the short term answer. life changes, so should we. never look at a volcano in its quiet season and assume it's just a mountain. the quiet season is your buildup. because the people who mistake your silence for surrender are standing too close to something they don't understand yet. your season is coming. remain on course.
It's been almost 2 months since I have cut down my screen time by 90%. I no longer scroll social media, watch youtube, netflix, etc. No more video games. I'm close to the happiest I've ever been. The only thing missing is the "work" or "productivity" element to my life atm. I am procrastinating a lot of things that have been on my to-do list for a long time. A lot of emails and messages I need to respond to. A lot of admin work. A lot of community work. Some mistakes I made with yoshizen I need to figure out how to make up for. Tax stuff. It's all piling up and I know I need to get to it soon but I cannot for the life of me find the motivation. I can't shake the dread I feel at the thought of sitting down at my computer for hours and hours. It's funny. Being addicted to screens and dopamine is not a good thing, but removing them from my life, while overall a net positive, has also removed my ability to spend any time with the devices that rule our lives. God damn it's hard to find balance. Dunno if anyone out there has been through anything similar and come out the other side, but I am all ears for any tips or suggestions for re-finding purpose or motivation

My loose rules for a life well lived: Be kind. Life is hard enough and everyone suffers internally. Don’t add to the burden they carry. Be curious. The world is as big as your mind can make it. There’s an infinite amount of interesting things to explore. Ask questions and spend time with new ideas. Read books. Writing is how we transport ideas through space and time. The best ideas are held in books, each a treasure chest you can open as easily as the cover. Over centuries, the most beautiful stories ever told have been carefully saved for us here. Stay close to human things. Things we evolved with. Cooking, hand crafts, nature, relationships, physicality, sleep, and community. You are built for a world of tactility. Remind yourself the internet is a game that is detached from the above. When you strip information from presence and experience and combine it with attention algorithms and sprinkle in non-human bots incentivized to sow division, you’re creating an asylum for yourself. Don’t get lost in the sauce, call your friends and family and spend time together offline. Help others. Everyone you help is likely to help you. If you reach a hand out to help 100 people in a year, on the day you need it, 100 hands will lift you. Your real friends will support you and your efforts. They will not discourage you, roll their eyes, or doubt your abilities or your reasons for trying. Someone who tries to make you doubt yourself at every turn is not your friend, they are an acquaintance who has placed themselves in opposition to your success because it makes them feel better about themselves. Spend your valuable time with people who do not do this to you. Comparison will steal your joy. Only compare yourself to who you want to be, and who you were yesterday. Happiness in life is only relative to your own experience. Root yourself in your own metrics and detach them from your imagination about how others are doing and feeling. Make records. Write, photograph, make videos, whatever you want. You are in a state of constant change in a world that constantly changes around you. Memory is malleable and fleeting. Do what you can to preserve some of your experience. Your future self will thank you. Check in with yourself, gently, and reorient yourself towards your own North Star. It is ok and good to wander and stray but make sure to nudge yourself back on path when you need to.

NFTs were the most fun era of crypto, by far They brought the most joy, gathered the most diverse set of interesting people, and produced some of the most creative things crypto has seen We’ll never get them back the way they were before - that was a once in a lifetime confluence of events - but the spirit and essence of the technology and art behind NFTs will live on and there will be pockets that show monumental strength when we zoom out and look at a long enough time horizon
If you really want NFTs to come back, start being vocal about them on the timeline. Be proud of yourself for sticking to your roots. There is no better feeling than buying NFTs. There is no second best. Ily.
