“When a girl is educated, she is earning for herself. She’s also earning for her family, and she gives more food security to her family. So, we are encouraging families to think about girls not as a burden, but as hope.”-@Malala

Girls must have a voice in decisions that shape their future. Inspiring to see Sharon and other young girls in Nigeria not only speaking up but being heard by policymakers. This is what meaningful participation and empowerment look like! 💚👏

At Malala Fund, we work to secure stronger education budgets and make sure girls have a say in how that money is spent.
In Bauchi state, Nigeria, 17-year-old Sharon got to have her say. At a workshop organised by @YoungLeadersN, with support from Malala Fund, Sharon sat alongside government officials and education leaders to share what girls actually need from education budgets.
And she's proud to know those leaders took her ideas seriously.
Girls like Sharon aren't waiting to be heard. They're already helping shape decisions about their education. 💚

Today’s girl denied a classroom could have been tomorrow’s doctor saving mothers and newborn babies. By banning girls’ education, the Taliban are endangering lives they have not yet even seen.

The School Education & Literacy Department (SELD), Government of Sindh, in strategic partnership with Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA), is expanding the implementation of the Teaching at the Right Level (#TaRL) framework across Hyderabad District.
Supported by the Malala Fund under the #AGEiSSS initiative, 30 TaRL learning camps are currently operational in 15 government schools across the district.
A mentoring delegation is visiting these camps to review field-level implementation, assess progress, strengthen stakeholder coordination, and provide practical mentoring support.
These visits aim to identify areas for improvement and enhance the effective delivery of the TaRL framework at the school level.

Economists have a term for things that can make or break a country’s economy: macrocritical. It’s applied to food costs, oil prices and exchange rates — but rarely to education.
Across 113 countries, governments now spend more on debt than on educating their children. Our new brief makes the case that education — girls' education above all — is macrocritical and details how policymakers can better protect it from the debt squeeze.

World leaders speak passionately about women’s empowerment while shaking hands with rulers who erase women from public life. Afghan girls need more than sympathetic speeches. They need principled action.

🔴 Day 1,856 since secondary age girls were stopped from going to school in #Afghanistan.
The Taliban has forbidden young girls from entering classrooms - and their social exclusion continues beyond these spaces as well.
This is not right or fair. It has been more than five years. Let Afghan girls learn.
You are not forgotten.

Islam’s first command was to read. Yet the Taliban have turned classrooms into forbidden spaces for girls. Their persecution of women must never be confused with the teachings of Islam.

what happens when we let kids take the lead? 👀✨ they become the teachers, the changemakers, and the ones inspiring each other. no lectures, just kids learning from kids. imagine a whole classroom where every child gets to lead. THAT’S where the real change begins. 💚🌱

🔴 Day 1,853 since the Taliban stopped secondary age girls from going to school in #Afghanistan.
Why do Afghanistan's rulers fear women being educated? Many young girls are determined to continue learning in secret, demonstrating their courage and resilience to the Taliban's discriminatory policies.
