Lots of #CanSoc faithful need to see this in pictures. Pictures built on facts. This pattern aint going away. #MLS keeps pushing revenue growth. We. Cant. Keep. Up. We need a homegrown system, league, whatever. #TFCLive, #VWFC & #CFMTL generate $170M/year for MLS. Bring it home.

1/12 Its the 3rd time this comes up: "Europe loses money too" But that doesn't explain why 🇨🇦 MLS clubs arent keeping up financially within MLS. The issue isn't simply losing money. Its losses relative to revenue, franchise growth & market performance.

11/12 MLS operates differently. It's a closed, independent league with centralized commercial revenues, revenue sharing, roster spending controls & no relegation. The structure reduces financial exposure to sporting results. 🇨🇦 clubs operate within those same protections.

12/12 Yet 🇨🇦 MLS collectively post a −19.6% operating margin & franchise values barely grow relative to MLS They have major metro markets & share leagues financial protections Why arent they converting those advantages into stronger businesses? 🇨🇦 Is not compatible w/ 🇺🇸

🇨🇦 MLS falling behind ⏱️: 1. All 3 lost money: −$33M combined 2. TOR lost $14M despite $74M revenue 3. VAN/MTL rank 29th & 30th in franchise value 4. All 3 appreciated 0–1% vs MLS average of +6% (Forbes) 5. Combined operating margin: −19.6% *Sportico has VAN/MTL -4% valuation

Since 2015 #CFMTL has doubled its revenues from $24M to $48M while having a 10 year -$70M operating budget. Salary budget is almost double today since then & last in league MLS is unsustainable in 🇨🇦 now. 🇨🇦 markets have served their purpose to grow MLS MLS had outgrown 🇨🇦

It takes quite something for a stadium to host two trophy lifts in one week, and neither to be for the team that calls it home. Tough sailing for CF Montreal these days.

This account is often so good, even when on the opposite side of "your side" Brilliant tweet. A worthy follow.

Personally, I only support the early American soccer associations and leagues that existed between 1883 and 1986. I hand craft and paint miniature player models to stage famous matches from prior decades on a special table top in my garage to celebrate authentic soccer.

Anyone else watching the TV coverage? Tough to find it on @BBCiPlayer. Why is the colour so weird? The pitch appears to be purple not green. Had to check phone and TV. Same on both. Is that normal for Canada? @RedRosesRugby @RugbyCanada
