As always, Lorne Doerkson nails tone and stays away from the sort of divisiveness that alienates ordinary people from politics.
BC should get ready for a decade of Doerkson.
For hardworking everyday people and families, it will be one of our best.
Congratulations to Jennifer Whiteside on being named Interim Leader of the BC NDP.
I sat across the floor from her for a long time and she is a serious person who works hard for the people she represents.
A good opposition makes for a better government, and I expect her to hold us to account while we get to work delivering what we promised British Columbians.

Congratulations to the @BCLions on a great playoff victory!
Now, @PremierScottMoe, about that wager… what size Lions jersey should I bring to our first official meeting?

You must win. If you don’t, every woman in Canada loses. Even those who are your most vicious critics today will lose. Or their daughters.
November 10, 12 & 13: The dates of my appeal trial at the BC Supreme Court.
I am appealing a ruling that found me guilty of "unprofessional conduct" for advocating for the rights of women and children in my off-duty time.
My regulator, the BC College of Nurses, investigated me at the behest of a cancellation mob after receiving complaints from members of the public I've never met. I have never had a patient complaint. I was dragged through years of disciplinary hearings, lasting longer than a murder trial. (My fight was made possible by @JCCFCanada and @LDBildy.)
After my guilty verdict, I was told I would face a 1 month suspension and had to pay $94,000 to the BCCNM. My employer of 13 years, Vancouver Coastal Health, fired me with no severance, and no way to even collect EI. I was a single mom with 2 young boys. The suspension and $94k was put on hold for the appeal. My name is blacklisted and I essentially was pushed out of the profession entirely.
I first noticed the rise of gender ideology a decade ago, and I was fascinated and repulsed that women were being told to shut up about their experiences to make way for people who identify as us. Then I came to understand that paediatric "gender affirming care" is a terrible medical scandal, probably worse than the lobotomy. I began to write about the topic and, with another BC woman, began to organize events to discuss gender ideology. We faced vicious threats, protests, and attempts to shut us down. Later, of course, I was involved in a billboard project that drew a lot of ire from trans activists.
Never could I have imagined that life would go in this direction: being smeared as a bigot across the country; losing my career and long-term financial stability; and spending 6+ years in a protracted legal battle.
I'm still fighting because I care about the truth, free speech (for all of us, but especially for regulated professionals, who don't deserve to be policed in their private lives and forced to go along with state orthodoxy), and women's rights. Please follow along for updates.

"Joanna" Harper will be visiting UBC to tell us why men should get to compete in women's sports, even if they can't change sex, retain the advantage of being male, and disadvantage (and creep out) female athletes.
Oh goodie.

Hey @PremierScottMoe let’s make a little wager on the CFL playoff game tomorrow. After the @BCLions win, I will give you a Lions jersey at our first official meeting.
In the very small chance the Riders win, I’ll reluctantly accept a @sskroughriders jersey from you.

223,273 British Columbians completed the Permanent Daylight Savings Time survey (only 4.0% of BCians).
Survey was open for 25 days in 2019.
No geographic weighting was applied to final data.
Permanent Standard Time was not an option.

What does associate membership in the European Union actually mean for Canada?
Would it mean adopting EU taxes? EU immigration policies? Other EU regulations and policies that will dictate Canadian legislation? How much taxpayer dollars will go to European causes?
Mark Carney suggested that closer ties with the EU would increase Canadians' freedoms. But how exactly would that work? How does aligning ourselves with a distant political and economic union give Canadians more freedom?
Building a strong independent Canada should mean strengthening our borders, protecting our national identity, defending our values and freedoms, and preserving our sovereignty.
What does the EU know about the needs of Skeena—Bulkley Valley? What does EU know about the challenges facing our communities?
Canadians deserve to know exactly what closer alignment with the EU would mean for our sovereignty and our ability to make decisions for ourselves.

Police have warned that Hallowe’en trick or treating may go against “religious beliefs”.
Councils and forces have issued “no trick or treat” posters that households can display on Saturday to deter unwanted visitors.
Official guidance for some areas states that these posters should be respected as some people may avoid Hallowe’en for cultural reasons.

When I was a teenager I worked in tourism and from American visitors I would be told about wildly foreign concepts like "carjackings" and "muggings." Like all American dysfunctions these last few years, we decided it was something we badly needed to import to Canada.
Five to Six Masked Men Armed With Handguns Wanted in Violent Carjacking in Clarington
A 58-year-old man was assaulted and robbed during an armed carjacking involving five to six masked suspects in Clarington.
Durham Regional Police say the incident occurred Thursday, October 29, 2026, at approximately 3 p.m. in the area of Clarington Concession Road 4 and Elliott Road.
The victim was driving in the area when an older-model black Dodge SUV pulled in front of his vehicle, forcing him to stop.
Five to six masked men then exited the SUV and approached the victim's vehicle. One suspect reached through an open window, unlocked the door and forcibly pulled the victim out.
The victim was assaulted before the suspects searched his pockets and stole his wallet and cellphone. Investigators say several of the suspects were armed with handguns.
The suspects then stole the victim's 2026 Nissan Rogue and fled the scene.
The victim suffered minor injuries but declined medical treatment.
Police describe the suspects as five to six males wearing face coverings. Two were dressed entirely in grey, while the remaining three to four were wearing all black.
Investigators are appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage, surveillance video or information about the incident to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Durham Regional Police East Division Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 2765.

I spoke with Jennifer Whiteside about men being jailed with women.
Her response was to say she has trans people in her family and strongly supports trans rights. When I asked about women's rights, she escaped the conversation.
She's refused my meeting requests since.
