Some of those arguing against SRY screening have latched on to the idea of 'a right not to know'. Can't see this being a promising line of argument. If you don't want to take the test, don't take the test. Hth.

I’ll be moderating a panel with Kara, @bindelj and @KhadijaKhan__ on Thursday evening in central London to look at the long history of excusing violence against Jewish women within feminism. Link to tix in replies.
The feminist view of rape applied to Jewish women in the aftermath of 10/7 comes for the West. It is not a surprise, and it’s not about #MeToo: a strand of feminism has been developing the idea that rape is the collateral damage of racism and imperialism, and that we must accept violent revolution in order to end these oppressions, for years. Angela Davis, “Violence Against Women and the Ongoing Challenge to Racism,” 1985: “The very same social conditions which spawn racist violence…are the same forces which encourage sexual violence. Thus, sexual violence can never be completely eradicated until we have succeeded in effecting a whole range of radical social transformations in our country.” Same essay: “If we are militant activists challenging violence against women, we must also see ourselves as fearless fighters against police violence, and in passionate solidarity with the racially and nationally oppressed people who are its main targets.” Etc. This vision of feminism always said women’s concerns would be addressed in the aftermath of anti-state revolution, not before. In fact, the liberal version of feminism associated with Jewish feminist Betty Friedan was developed in part to counter this very idea.

Perhaps I should make the implication clear, though it's fairly obvious. If you don't wish to know whether you are female or not, that's fine, refuse the test. But you will be unable to demonstrate eligibility for the female category. Them's the breaks.

As activists in the Labour and trade union movement we stand firmly with our FWS sisters. We are stalwarts of trade unions - among us are current and former workplace reps, committee members, branch officers, builders of picket lines, you name it. We want unions to support women.
Joy! Now @SeanCMBell, who boasts of bylines in @bellacaledonia & @ScotNational joins in the @NASUWT pile-on. No we are "wildly hostile" to a failure to support women in the workplace. That's not being hostile to Unions, it's objecting to a failure to fulfil their obligations. At least deal with what we actually say rather than invent malign intent.

NEW: Sandeep Kaushik, a consultant who has been paid $64,750 to work AGAINST the initiatives, admits, "somebody who is born biologically male, now playing on a female sports team...they're going to have a competitive advantage." He also said the initiative to protect girls' sports is "likely to pass and maybe even overwhelmingly" because polls show it's a "70/30, even maybe an 80/20 issue." "In this case, there is a fairness issue" Don't take this for granted. Let's make it happen. VOTE YES ON I-638

BREAKING: WNBA formally tells Congress that only biological women can play in the league, declaring Enes Kanter Freedom & Royce White ineligible because "both are men.”
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The WNBA's Oct 16 letter states "only women are eligible to play in the WNBA" and the individuals "are both men" without using "biological" or defining "women"; the CBA uses identical wording. foxnews.com/outkick-sports… tmz.com/2026/10/20/ene… x.com/EnesFreedom/st…

Brazilian volleyball finally stepped up and banned men from the women's Superliga, in other words, Brazil finally has a women's volleyball league. This means male athlete Rodrigo "Tifanny" Abreu will no longer be able to play at the highest level of "women's" volleyball, but Abreu managed to steal one last award before leaving, as he was named MVP of the 2026 Supercopa after his team won the Supercopa Championship. Abreu is a man in his 40s, still going strong against pro female atheltes. Although he was banned from the top Superliga competition, that doesn't mean he's necessarily done cheating women out of titles and stealing opportunities away from them. He is still more than welcome to join an amateur "women's" team in Brazil where there are more than 40 other men currently playing. Abreu's narcissism can be seen on full display on his social media where alongside photos he posts of himself surrounded by his medals (not an ounce of shame or self awareness), he calls himself "courageous" and "resilient." "I don't want to be remembered just for the points I've scored or the titles I've won. I want to leave a legacy of respect, courage and hope," he says. No Rodrigo, your legacy is one of cowardice, selfishness, misogyny, and the oppression of women, and you will forever be remembered as the shallow, ugly, cheating man that you are. I'll make sure of it.

I am ruling out our party entering into a national partnership with any party that is committed to a dangerous and antisemitic policy like the Green Party’s. Here is my letter to the Jewish Leadership Council and the Board of Deputies of British Jews 👇

Thank you to the two @Cambridge_Uni medical students who saved my step-brother's life. He was running with girlfriend on Midsummer Common and his heart stopped for 14 minutes. They didn't give up on him, kept him alive til paramedics arrived. He is on the mend and should make a full recovery

I went to this session with a fairly bog standard left wing 'stay and make a noise' argument. I'm still not convinced that's entirely wrong. But I was struck by the number of women ex-trade unionists who spoke about the depths of betrayal, disrespect, and even contempt that they've faced. I think many union leaders are isolated from their members by a kind of crisis of internal democracy - they live in a bubble and they don't have any real conception of the antipathy that is felt towards them both by women members and this who have left. This is really serious. And really bad for the labour movement. So, reflecting.
A discussion about the failure of unions in the face of GC harassment. @DarlingtonUnion's Bethany's talk amazing. She ended with unions have abandoned us to let's rebuild. @RosieDuffield1 smash the unions? Yes. @runthinkwrite distinguish between leadership and role of trade unionists "I don't need an additional HR department that I pay subs to for them to police my views" @JimButcher2 had to leave the union for moral grounds because of their support for harming children. The courageous Darlington nurses have struck a blow for women everywhere. A superb victory. The trade union movement should hang its head in shame for abandoning them.
'It's an absolute victory for us, we are over the moon.' Exclusive: Darlington nurses speak to GB News about the latest NHS trans guidance, which says trans patients should be accommodated on hospital wards in line with their biological sex.

This is a decent policy. One thing I'm probably too twitchy about: they say they've reviewed IOC guidance documents - both the '21 and the '26 versions. But the '26 version explicitly displaces the '21 one. I suppose, reluctantly, it's OK to *read* the '21 Framework, maybe set it as target practice for students. But it shouldn't guide policy one iota. I don't think it has done, but eternal vigilance and all that.
England Touch Rugby's revised policy limits its women's game to women; no blokes. Trans-claiming chaps (naturally) are unhappy & a bunch of them under sobriquet, "Pride in Touch", is trying to whip up a mob to try to force a reversal. Please outshout them. englandtouch.org.uk/media/24…
