the problem here starts after one gets to this equation: 6 ÷ 2 (3) in this instance, the brackets start being for the purpose of multiplication. that means the equation actually looks like this 6 ÷ 2 × 3. division precedes multiplication so the answer should be 3 × 3 = 9
