Hot take after a decade of building text editors: trees are a mistake. Slate, ProseMirror, Lexical - all trees. Meanwhile the most-used editor on earth never bothered: Word models text as flat runs over a buffer. The surprise hero of this story πŸ˜…

it begs the question: what's the next programming primitive to be replaced with matrices? for loops? functions? while statements? what does the "language for intelligence" look like?
I've seen people describe Jev as an "AI if statement". But what if it actually WAS an if statement? Introducing Probably: a programming language powered by Jev: probably-lang.southpolesteve… Jev baked into the language. β€œfeels” asks a question. β€œmatch” routes between descriptions. β€œwhile” keeps going until something stops feeling true. This is obviously a toy, but it's fun to think about what something like Jev unlocks. Jev makes the decisions, an LLM does the writing, and a little program ties it together.

Excellent read
This is the type of post I might regret later, but I really had an urge to rant about the current discourse around pacing the frontier. lucumr.pocoo.org/2026/9/12/p…

Hey, hey! I've been working on something last couple weeks. Libras - a music player that connects to your own music server. It's still early in development though already replaced apps on my desktop and android. Give it a try, let me know what you think github.com/TrySound/libras

I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.

"All four mutations red their own gates" This is a response I got more than once recently from a coding agent. I am mostly frustrated but also a little delighted :D

I guess unpopular opinion, but for texts that I am committed to understanding thoroughly, I absolutely do ask AI to quiz me or summarize parts I did not understand. Laugh if you want, but I will bet cold hard $$ that my comprehension is much higher than median for those texts.
This @axios piece is so so so sooo humiliating πŸ˜† we are witnessing a truly catastrophic level of societal brain rot right now

the funny part is that even Word's paragraphs aren't containers. ΒΆ is a character in the flat stream and "heading level 2" is a property on it - the outline view is a reading, not a structure. it's flat runs all the way down

From the docs: β€œCode is increasingly written, reviewed, and transformed with machine assistance. When UI structure is more explicit, editors, compilers, and code generation tools have a better surface to work with without changing the framework semantics underneath.”
Happy to announce TSRX. Think it as the spiritual successor to JSX. We extracted it from Ripple, and made it framework agnostic. It can compile to React, Ripple and Solid, other frameworks to come soon. It's a TypeScript superset language, with a parser, compiler and a selection of plugins for editors + Prettier + ESlint, etc It's early alpha but we thought people might be interested in it. 🧡

Meet weareonhire! or WAOH! an invite-only talent community, moderated by its members. Invite-only approach slows growth intentionally, preventing typical decline in community quality. Every invite is public and traceable back to founding member, creating accountability and trust

I’ve been building XNS, an Ethereum-native name registry. The design philosophy behind XNS is: * Permanent ownership. Identity is not a subscription. * Simplicity. No governance and configuration overhead. If ENS expirations ever bothered you, this is for you. 🧡

Imagine opening your editor and finding an AI collaborator already working alongside you. Not as a plugin, but as a true writing partner, similar to how we use google docs with our colleagues. I just wrote about how one could use Yjs + rich text editors can make this reality: β€’ Real-time AI collaboration β€’ Context-aware suggestions β€’ Learning from your style β€’ Ethical considerations jkrsp.com/blog/ai-collaborat… I have been experimenting with building something like this, would you give it a go?

Rich text editors like Lexical are frontend-only, right? Wrong! πŸš€ Just wrote a deep dive on processing Lexical content server-side with Rails workers. Think auto-save, content analysis, bulk operations, and search indexing - all without blocking your UI. Perfect for content platforms that need backend intelligence. jkrsp.com/blog/lexical-rails…
