That's it for me on Twitter/X Over 14 years on here as a Gooner, soccer dad curmudgeon, CPL dreamer and L1O fan. Had some good times made by good people. Reddit is where I'm headed... reddit.com/u/phlpw/

Watching/listening to soccer fans in Canada is like watching a cat chase a laser pointer...

As much as I dont like to use isolated examples to make a point, but you see this and then you look at Canada player development and Canada might as well be a developing kids for a totally different sport (which they do, cause most quit soccer by 16)
Dowman made his U18s debut at 13, his U21s debut at 14 and his first-team debut at 15. Incredible progress.

Someone at @CanadaSoccerEN @NorthernSuperLg and @CPLsoccer want to remind FIFA that the NSL/CPL has a few teams in the Greater Toronto Area? 🤦‍♂️

"Easy to talk when its other people's money. What if it was yours?" Sure. Annihilate pay-to-play in 🇨🇦 and instead open up 🇨🇦⚽️ to Club ⚽️ like they have in 🇪🇺 & Central/South America. Instead of parent-funded, 🇨🇦 goes to transfer-market funded. That's how you get a Györkeres

Not a chance unfortunately. Sports in Canada is focused on giving the haves more and keeping the have-nots out. Nepotism in hiring, player selection and opportunity creation. Weak and frail as a result. Found out on the national stage.
This video shows what a typical day is like for a boy who trains soccer at one of Argentina's professional clubs (Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata). The club provides him with accommodations, a room, meals, recreation, education, and training. The club where he trains isn't among the top clubs, likely somewhere in the middle of the table or lower in the Argentine League. And let's be real, the Argentine economy has been struggling for many years. Most of these boys belong to a medium to low socioeconomic segment. Thus, their parents didn't paid thousands of dollars to be there so they have been scouted in the city and surrounding little towns. Canadian Premier League @CPLsoccer and Canada SOCCER should follow this.

1/7 So an "update" that includes what the WC ticketing allocation looks like. What they’re calling a "draw" is really just tiered "pay to win" access disguised as fairness. Some verbal gymnastics going on here. #CanMNT #WorldCup2026
An Update to the Canadian Soccer Community: Progress and the Path Ahead 🍁 A statement from Canada Soccer CEO & General Secretary, Kevin Blue, and President & Board Chair, Peter Augruso.

These Clubs Need More Than Templates And Tools, You've Been Providing These For Years Now. This Is Not The Problem At These Clubs. Lack Of Management, Accountability And Far Too Many Non Soccer People Involved For Their Own Benefit

What does @NorthernSuperLg teach you about football in Canada? If you want anything better for the sport, you LITERALLY need to build, operate & grow it COMPLETELY outside the @CanadaSoccerEN system Those already doing this in Ontario & are not OSA members know this truth

We saw @SAACSoccer originate under this truth, only to eventually be squeezed out of existence through ruthless OSA gatekeeping tactics. That struggle taught lessons. Could we see a SAAC 2.0 ? I hazard to bet there's an interest in such an endeavor...

Would any other Federation's President admit their role in the creation of a women's league was/is "small"? It's honest, but I fell its inadvertently pretty damming for a Federation that has done more harm to female players over decades than it's done good...
So much admiration and respect for @dmatheson8 and what she and the @NorthernSuperLg team have built. 💪🇨🇦💪🇨🇦 En route to Vancouver now to be a small part of this historic day.

watch this then try to watch youth, even u18 soccer, in Ontario Q. how can anyone feel OK about the gulf between the two A. they don't care; it doesn't really bother them; they're frauds
U13 Barcelona. Look at the fundamentals: - passing speed and choice - first touch - dribbling comfort - movement off the ball No tricks or fancy stuff needed!

this sums up @CanadaSoccerEN grossly incompetent, neglectful of soccer talent (both male and female) for decades, dancing on the edge of financial ruin in the richest sport in the world... but let's focus on changing the Assoc logo, right @kevinablue
