BIG: Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever offered his government’s resignation to King Philippe after overnight coalition talks on the 2027 budget collapsed.
The five-party “Arizona” coalition has been deadlocked for months over about €10 billion in savings by 2029, needed to bring the deficit within EU rules.
The King has not accepted the resignation.
He warned that Belgium cannot afford a prolonged crisis, will consult the coalition party leaders from Tuesday, and will meet De Wever again on Friday.
Belgium’s deficit stood at about 5.2% of GDP in 2025, and its public debt is above 108%.

“They kept bombing forests for years instead of going after Ho Chi Minh City.”
The thing is Ho Chi Minh City was called Saigon during the Vietnam War and was the capital of US-allied South Vietnam; North Vietnam's capital was Hanoi.
So basically Ho Chi Minh was under US control for almost the entire war.
