Remember that our surgical ancestors didn't have to operate on people that are as old and complex as now, on anyone that required 'critical care' afterward (those patients just died), or on patients with BMI > 40.
Also: *much* more extremity work, and less on major organs.

Ty Jerome scored a career-high 45 points tonight, surpassing Ja Morant’s 44 in 2020 for the most in a season opener in Grizzlies history.
Jerome is the fourth player in NBA history to reach 40 points for the first time in his career in a season opener, joining Morant (2020), Nick Anderson (1992) and Wilt Chamberlain (1959).
