I built a visual reference finder with Jev
One single prompt → 100 images from Cosmos, NASA, and The Met
my new rabbit hole for creative work 🌻
After co-inventing ChatGPT, I kept asking myself: why have superhuman chat models not led to AGI?
I’ve spent the last 2 years in stealth building a new way to train models (RLCD), and a new type of frontier AI model that we are releasing today: Jev
• 20-200x faster
• 40-400x cheaper (w/ output tokens free)
• Frontier composable intelligence optimized for decisions
AFAICT the shortest path to AI-based economic revolution
tiktok has this new feature I just saw leaving comments as voice messages, imagine having that on the everything app
dentists are like therapists. they know you’re not flossing, but they’ll still spend 15 mins walking you through it and making you swear you’ll floss every day
mind virus successfully implanted
anyway the cocofloss + philips electric toothbrush combo is 🔥
i used to journal so much, using different templates: 'future self journaling' by Dr. Nicole LePera, the five minute journal by Mimi and Alex, and, of course, morning pages from Julia Cameron’s the artist’s way
i find myself journaling less and less. these days, I do voice journaling and camera + voice journaling, use specific prompts to reflect on what’s been happening in my life, and do EFT tapping based on those prompts
curious to hear what other people’s journaling rituals have been
can’t believe apple did this, my lenovo yoga laptop of 8 9 years ago was extremely sweet but I can’t imagine having a macbook with a touchscreen
i see a future in which we will ditch phones and computers, and the never ending scrolling, as ai gets better and takes on different forms

we adapted to driving, commuting, inboxing, sitting in front of a glass all day
none of that is first principles; it’s leftover logistics
ai’s real gift isn’t more convenience! It’s deleting the loops that never deserved a human in them
combining attention with human intention makes the next step feel so obvious
but until those two match up, iterate
the best feeling to experience as a founder is being in this constant state of the unknown
until something is so clear you can't really ignore it!!
with all of Anthropic's moves, I'm looking at it from the perspective of being a consumer founder, and how much of a business one person can actually run with AI
1. demand for AI and demand for your app/service are separate hypotheses: anthropics' reported $16.3b in first half revenue is evidence of spending on its products, and your particular consumer problem still needs paying customers from day 1
2. small teams can aim for more output. all those numbers raise an interesting question: how much can you accomplish before you need to hire?
3. the competitors get the same building tools. faster building gives you more attempts. your single advantage is to develop through what you learn from those attempts: which problems matter, where people struggle, what they'll pay for
4. latest model improvements can change which products are affordable to offer. If Opus 5.5 reduced customer costs per task by ~40%, how can your specific experience be economically viable?
5. your happiest customer can become your most expensive customer. with a fixed subscription and usage-based AI costs, someone using your app constantly can squeeze your margins. calculate what heavy use actually costs
6. a standalone app needs a compelling reason for someone to add another subscription
7. a specific first result makes the product easier to understand and start using! "Practice tomorrow's interview" gives someone a starting point. "Your personal AI companion" asks them to figure out what to do
8. distribution needs its own design. as a consumer founder, you need to figure out your own route to users: creators, communities, AI search, referrals, or something else that you can actually test
9. retention needs oversight; Anthropic's roughly 900% net revenue retention measures spending expansion and excludes Pro and Max subscribers. it doesn't establish that consumers keep returning to an app; measure that separately
10. personal context creates a trust obligation. a voice product might become more useful as it learns about someone. people need to control what gets remembered, stored, exported, and deleted.
11. the strongest solo founder milestone is a business you can sustain. people pay, get a useful result, return when the need comes back, and receive support you can realistically provide
track those alongside how quickly you ship

Been learning about ZK-SNARKs lately! The core ideas behind modern hash-based schemes are surprisingly accessible & elegant 🧙♂️
Partly to teach myself, I wrote a post explaining them from scratch for people like me without a deep math background:
