With this legend at the @openEHR conference today. So many forward thinking people in one place - @john_farenden @ReadmanLuke @ukpenguin @KTheivendran @AdeByrne @Phil_Koczan -- let's build our future health system on standards! 💙
We're already in full swing on day two of #EHRCON24. Great insights from Dr Charlotte Refsum, @VidehaSharma, @tomazgornik and Dr Patrik Georgii-Hemming. On to the breakout sessions...

So many comments I could make on this post, but let’s go with the most important one: I’m so glad they wrote it. Read their wisdom.
Patient records and the NHS App are in the news again. Me and @MattStibbs wrote down some thoughts. TLDR: the perfect architectural approach won’t solve for fundamental environmental challenges that need addressing. public.digital/pd-insights/b…

Uncertainty is the only certainty! Expert forecasts, using an evidence based protocol, reveal wide variation in how hospital activities may evolve over the next 20 years, helping the NHS plan more robustly for the future. See our publication in the BMJ bmjopen.bmj.com/content/14/1…

This is the moment Ratcliffe power station came off the electricity system for the final time, marking the end of 142 years of coal generating electricity in Great Britain!

One of my mantras is that we often overestimate what is required to be useful. If you code and you can automate one weekly report for one person, they will love you forever and your impact will be massive. #solvesmallproblems
I suspect the reason the DHH/Levels haters are so angry is because they have mistaken what is valuable in life; they see dhh's or level's success and it frustrates them. comparison is the thief of joy

Great to see another paper and associated #opensource package published for reproducible transport/mobility #DataScience research and practical applications.
Great to finally see this published: journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.… ! Lots more work to be done on this, but this is a first step to study public transport and its affordability in the UK. The associated Python package is openly available here: github.com/FedericoBotta/rai…

This looks super cool. Not only is it a reproducible academic paper based on open source software that others can build on 🏗 (and with geo visualisations in there), it's also deployed as a website, great example of best practices in #Academic research 🚀 superblockify.city/

Interesting comments from Dina Asher-Smith: "They have (in America) a very different mentality... they’re relentlessly optimistic. I think that’s a great thing. If you were to say, I want to go to the moon, they will be like, How can I help you do that? & that is mind-blowing"

Here's a mind-blowing open data portal that I think should be far better known than it is: @GeoscienceAus's Historical Aerial Photography archive, containing 1.2 million aerial photos from the 1920s on! 🛩 🗺 🤯 Yellow dots = scanned downloadable photos! digital.atlas.gov.au/apps/9a…

Absolutely. I wish that @NHSEngland @NHSDigital @wesstreeting would deliver this for our #NHS. It would save so many lives & billions of pounds. would improve the UK economy as U.K. SMEs could deliver innovative digital health solutions rather than outdated legacy suppliers.

I wish this was true. The architecture we need has not even started to be created. Lots of disparate systems, connected using legacy methods and a spaghetti integration give an veneer of coherence - but a national patient record must be the priority.
NHS England chief executive, Amanda Pritchard says the NHS is at “a tipping point” when it comes to the use of technology. Read in full 👉ow.ly/F0w650ShLqR
