This is insane. I just hope Timothée wins his Best Lead Actor Oscar before they vote to make the change to gender-neutral acting categories. Voting in the acting categories will be even more political and nominees more diluted. Once it goes gender-neutral, it will decrease his chances to win significantly because so much more will be considered for voting for people beyond actual merit and talent. I already no longer care about the Spirit Awards and the Gothams since they have gone gender-neutral. What a mess.
Imagine being nominated with 9 other people, women, men, and theys, and having the performance of a very young man be measured against those who have a more 'marginalized' narrative to use for marketing and PR to win the Oscar.
