Awful to see such tragic loss in Myanmar when it has already suffered so terribly from the years of war on the people. The fortitude to endure this suffering is incredible. Help must get to the people. Wishing all strength to those in Myanmar. #WhatsHappeningInMyanmar

Lots of people asking if Russians *really* believe the state’s propaganda. Look at your bonkers anti-vax uncle in 🇺🇸 🇬🇧 or 🇨🇦, and ask the same question. Then realize that they have access to high quality, fact checked independent media. You’ve answered the question.

Good news for New Zealand citizens living in #Bangkok. The New Zealand embassy just posted that they have secured vaccination appointments for their citizens on Sunday. You must register by noon on Saturday. Good luck! #Thailand

10 years ago at 2:46 pm JST on 3/11 (or 9:46 pm 3/10 in the PNW), the Japan Trench megathrust slipped 60-80 meters in one go. The movement launched a tsunami that was among the largest ever seen with water run-up to 38 meters in places (124 feet: an 11 story building). (1/n)

A tale of two tsunami: looks like tsunami waves from the M8.1 quake are now arriving at a tide gauge station on North Island; the earlier signal is due to the M7.3 earthquake that was located much closer to the area. Both show amplitudes on the order of tens of centimeters.
