After spending most of my day merging AI generated PRs I'm starting to hate AI speak. I'm keen to start asking for a human TL;DR at the beginning, with real typos, as a "gate" to approve the f***ing thing.

I used KDE on 80386s (perhaps even 286s), crawling my way to run X on my bogotified Yggdrassil Linux distro, serving X to a remote Motif xeyes from a nearby RS/6000 looking at me all the time. It was beautiful, very reliable (compared to the church of Gnome) and its event based model a real pleasure to learn.

Made myself another little three-letter tool: gmd, an agent-friendly Gmail drafter. I use mdl and gmd all day, and they're saving me a lot of time. github.com/ar

Now I understand @htmx_org
Open-source is for millionaires who have enough money and looking for ways to achieve fulfilment in their life. Us, working class, don’t have the luxury to code for free.

The excellent Hacker’s Diet was written by John Walker, creator of AutoCAD and founder of Autodesk. He sadly passed away a few years ago, but Fourmilab, his website, is still online: fourmilab.ch/ I wanted a local CLI implementation, so I built one: github.com/ar/hackdiet Hope you’ll give it a try, it saves to a simple markdown file.

Moderately convinced that the entire premise of today's Claude Code style "agentic memory" is flawed since it requires the agent to know today what will be important tomorrow. Search-oriented memory will be much more useful. Adding this to Mjolnir through our sessionwiki fork.

After 40+ years, I'm retiring my Clipper '85 personal ledger and replacing it with a new Markdown-based one. The main goal is to make it time-proof: a simple, human-readable format with no dependency on a particular application. As long as there's cat, the ledger will remain readable. You can try it at github.com/ar/mdl
