Guillermo Rauch is the founder and CEO of @vercel. Growing up in Argentina, he taught himself English in order to teach himself programming, then went on to create @nextjs and other foundational technology for the real-time web.
In our conversation, Guillermo explains why he designed Vercel’s first command line before writing any code, why layout shift erodes trust, and why his company won’t commit any “random acts of AI.”
G is not just a chief executive. He’s a chief designer.

at least when we commit our federal crimes for new media we don’t tell you you’re fucked and are going to die alone. we just got drunk !
to cig or not to cig aside, the concept of a smoke break talk is so romantic
yes, pull me outside urgently because you need to rant
yes, take a deep breath and really lay it all out
yes, say the craziest things and then let it float away into the ether as we calmly go back inside & resume the evening
I not only think a lot about what I am creating...
I think a lot about the process of creating
am I creating in a process that feels abundant? blissful? spacious? in flow?
if not, I am running fast and frequent iterations and feedback loops to keep adjusting it
because I really believe that the best creations come...not when we've drained ourselves down...but from when we are at our most expansive

The most candid and human interview I've done - a convo with @ashebytes
We cover my upbringing, theoretical physics days, journey through quantum, e/acc, founding Extropic, the need for a philophical revolution and Kardashev Research – at San Francisco, CA
