Who wants to cover up what? You can't cover something up that's out in the open. Do you actually help anyone get off the street or just shame them for struggling?

Cost effectiveness studies estimate return to community on investment different kinds of drug interventions. Often show supply reduction expensive way making bad problem worse. Demand reduction better results but harm reduction often substantial benefits for modest cost
There is a widespread view that drug policy should be based on the principle of harm minimisation. If only it was that simple. d1wqtxts1xzle7.cloudfront.ne…

No you don't. By shutting down almost all the sales to adults you're just turning over the market to crime which doesn't card. Your youth vaping rate will rise and your adult smoking rate will rise. As is already happening. Your country already is the example of what not to do.

Your new laws do not put kids first at all. Adult only shops are a far better solution than turning the majority of the market over to crime and the black market which doesn't care about age. A regulated adult market has an incentive to keep vapes away from children. #yourafool

Based on my own observations, vaping now appears to be far more popular than smoking cigarettes, it's also much cleaner with no need for ashtrays, or the smell of cigarette smoke. This ban is going to really screw with millions of people that have used vaping as a way to stop smoking. Of course, the Government doesn't care about people's health, they care about the tax revenue they are missing out on, and will happily force nicotine addicts to return to smoking cigarettes at exorbitant prices.

I'm pretty firm on retaining the government as an independent umpire. I'm a Friedman libertarian. But what we have is the TGA is just a mouthpiece for pharmaceutical companies providing >90% of funding for a government department. Both options can't co-exist.

@FDATobacco in America is much the same. Completely funded by user fees from the products they are charged with regulating. Its insane.

Surprising fact alert! In France, vaping is a suggested method to help smokers quit. But wait, it's not limited to Europe—outside the EU, the United Kingdom, Health Canada, and New Zealand's Ministry of Health also endorse vaping as an effective tool for smokers seeking to quit.

Black Markets don't protect kids. They endanger them. That's all your making is a stronger black market. And by making vaping less appealing and harder to get for adult smokers you will have more smokers and more death. Congrats on the genocide @TahirTturk

Community Notes for yet another win.
The nicotine in e-cigarettes can impair an adolescent’s brain development. In addition, the aerosols that those who vape breathe in can contain #cancer-causing chemicals and heavy metals such as nickel, tin and lead. theconversation.com/californ…

Why are the anties in NZ so against the governments decision to scrap the tobacco regulations that were recommended by the previous government? Based on the current stats what NZ has been doing is working. Australia not so much!!

Just ignore that nearly all of the "non-compliant" products are smoke-free nicotine products that eliminate exposure to deadly smoke, while the "compliant" products include combustible cigarettes. This is what FDA considers “appropriate for the protection of the public health?”

The story of Emilie du Châtelet, the scientist who feared that bearing a child at 42 would be the last thing she did. In her final year, she worked furiously on a magnum opus that would spread physics in the world. She was born #Today in 1706. She was a French mathematician, physicist, and author during the Age of Enlightenment. Her crowning achievement is considered to be her translation and commentary on Isaac Newton's work Principia Mathematica. However, her life was cut short due to complications from childbirth. At the age of 42, du Châtelet became pregnant with her fourth child. Despite her fears that this might be the last thing she did, she continued to work on her translation of Newton's Principia. Sadly, her fears were realized when she died from complications related to childbirth in 1749, just a few days after the birth of her daughter. Despite the tragic end to her life, du Châtelet's legacy as a pioneering scientist and translator has endured. Her work helped to popularize the theories of Isaac Newton and bring them more widespread acceptance in Europe. She is remembered as a groundbreaking figure in the history of science, and her story serves as a reminder of the sacrifices that many women have made in pursuit of knowledge and discovery.
