I deleted a tweet about the decision to allow small planes to take off from smaller airports that's currently doing the rounds on Serbian twitter, as it turns out it's a normal seasonal thing

To recap: the police and gendarmerie are either assembling near or entering four key structures: Belgrade city hall, National Assembly, Radio-Television Network of Serbia and the Republican Electoral Committee. Their bots tweeting about "defense from the color revolution".

Things seem to be moving faster now: after the record turnout was announced at 17h, the repressive apparatus (police+gendarmerie) began to move around 17:30 , lihghts were shut off in parts of Belgrade where they are located at 18h. All this while voting is still going on.

The Israeli military is hunting Palestinian students who have survived more than three years of genocide, targeting them as they try to restart their studies despite unliveable living conditions.
“We’re students. We came here to learn, to rebuild the country they destroyed, and they followed us here too.” An Israeli occupation drone fired on a group of students inside the campus of the Islamic University in Gaza City on Sunday morning, as they gathered near the university’s western gate between lectures. At least five students were wounded, some critically, and they were rushed to Al-Saraya field hospital and Al-Shifa. Shrapnel tore across the campus, damaging a building and the cars parked nearby, and the university suspended all classes for the day.
Gaza’s Ministry of Education called it a new crime against education. The Islamic University is one of the universities the Israeli occupation bombed to rubble during the genocide, and its students have been studying among the ruins since the ceasefire, trying to finish degrees the war interrupted. In June 2025, a UN Commission of Inquiry found that Israeli attacks on educational facilities in Gaza amounted to war crimes. Six Palestinians were killed across Gaza on Sunday, as fears grow that the occupation will escalate further ahead of Israel’s elections on October 27.

Brasil: Bolsonaristas storm pro-Lula demonstrators, PT councilwoman is reportedly seriously injured in the head, and hospitalized in critical conditions.

Turnout at 12 was 34,4%
More than 2 milion people voted in a country of 7 milion.
Each hour, Serbia sets a new record turnout. But the vote is not yet over. And we are yet to see how counting goes. My guess is that the end of this day will be far more intense than the morning.

Having so many young people excited to vote for the Student List in Chicago at 1 am — home to a large and predominantly nationalist diaspora community — is particularly indicative. Vučić won 53% of some 400 votes there in 2023. Nearly 2,000 Serbians registered this time.

Amid many videos of Serbian diaspora lining up to vote in an unprecedented mobilization of voters abroad, Serbians in Chicago pregamed at a bar to live music, singing pro-Student List songs. Wow.

For the second time today, Israel has bombed a university in Gaza, just as students were finally returning to their classrooms after months of devastation. Many students and university staff have been killed or injured.
Israel is determined to destroy even that hope, continuing its systematic destruction of education in Gaza.
