Today, we celebrate the three-year anniversary of the first-of-its-kind meeting between the United States Congress and the Federal Parliament of the Federal Republic of @Somalia. The Somali parliamentary delegation was led by the then-Speaker of the Somali House of the People, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe) @AadanMadobe.
As we were then, we remain proud and honored to have facilitated this historic meeting between the legislative branches of the two governments. Von Batten-Montague-York, L.C., has a long history of fighting for and representing the interests of Somalia before the @WhiteHouse, the United States Congress, and executive branch departments and agencies.
We truly enjoyed the years we spent serving as the official U.S. advisors to the Speaker and the Lower House of the Somali Parliament. We stand by the good people of Somalia and their Parliament as they fight the scourge of terrorism and work to rebuild their country, which was devastated by a bloody civil war.

For over a month, our process server has been attempting to serve @SaharaReporters, Ademola Bello, @akandeoj (also known as Pastor Olaolu Akande), and Empowered Newswire. Despite publicly making defamatory allegations against Dr. Von Batten, the defendants now appear unwilling to face the consequences of their actions in U.S. federal court.
According to our process server, Sahara Reporters does not appear to maintain an office at the address publicly listed on its website. Mr. Akande has reportedly failed to answer his door despite repeated service attempts, including an occasion when the process server reported hearing activity inside the residence. We recently located Mr. Bello and successfully served him with legal process.
To @SaharaReporters and Mr. Akande: Our process server is actively attempting to serve you. As you are aware, federal litigation is pending against you (Case No. 1:26-cv-03209), in which we are seeking $26 million in damages arising from allegedly false and defamatory statements. Sahara Reporters, please provide a valid address where you can be served. Mr. Akande, please answer your door when our process server returns.
IT IS OFFICIAL. This morning, Dr. Von Batten personally filed our federal defamation lawsuit against @SaharaReporters and Ademola Bello in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. Our legal strategy is straightforward: Dr. Von Batten is proceeding pro se at this stage, supported by an independent legal team as the litigation moves forward.
The case is Von Batten v. Sahara Reporters Media Group, Inc., et al., Case No. 1:26-cv-03209. We are seeking $26 million in damages arising from the false and defamatory allegations detailed in our complaint.
The time for online theater is over. The allegations against Dr. Von Batten will now be tested where evidence matters: in a United States federal court, before a federal judge.
We are looking forward to discovery. We intend to pursue legal action against any additional parties whom the evidence establishes were involved in planning, organizing, financing, or otherwise participating in what we believe was a coordinated smear campaign intended to stop our efforts to secure the public release of @FBI and @DEAHQ records concerning drug-trafficking allegations involving Nigerian President Bola Tinubu (@officialABAT).

We have heard the Nigerian people's voices and their demand for #transparency about the $700 billion mining MOU signed by the United States and the Nigerian Presidency (@officialABAT). President Bola Tinubu's failure to disclose the details of the MOU to the Nigerian people is typical; the Tinubu administration has signed countless deals with Europe and borrowed billions of dollars, yet the Nigerian people remain in the dark about the nature and details of those agreements.
Unfortunately for President #Tinubu, this time around, he is not dealing with Europe, and we are not in Nigeria. We are in the United States, a country where the rule of law still exists and is respected. This morning, we filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request with the @StateDept for the signed United States–Nigeria mining MOU and records concerning its negotiation and execution. Nigerians want to know what was signed in their names regarding their God-given natural resources and wealth.
There is also strong public interest in the United States in understanding what was agreed upon, what commitments were made, and what safeguards exist for affected communities. We intend to make the documents we receive publicly available. As we have stated before, we fully support the United States' push to secure access to critical minerals, but we strongly believe that the United States must not become like China while trying to outcompete #China.

This is Dr. Von Batten. The article reads, “A Minnesota Man Saves Nearly 20 Children.” The Minnesota man in question is named Ebro Ahmed, and he is a Somali-American.
For months, I have read articles with headlines such as “Somali Man Did X” and “Somali Man Did Y” when the act in question is a crime. But now that a Somali man has saved nearly 20 children, he is simply referred to as a Minnesota man.
Somali-Americans are good people, and for weeks, I have seen the Somali community attacked for the crimes of a few. This has to stop. People should not be identified as Somali, Mexican, Arab, or Jewish when the act is bad and simply American when the act is good.
We are all Americans and we can do better.

Robert Kabera, a former Rwandan army sergeant major who was an outspoken critic of President @PaulKagame, has been found beheaded. Our condolences are with his family. When America forgets that it is the leader of the free world, defenders of liberty are murdered.
Many people in D.C. have asked why we stand with the people of the #DRC against Rwandan President @PaulKagame, and our answer is simple: President Kagame is the embodiment of evil, and the good people of the DRC and President #Tshisekedi are the only ones currently standing up to this evil.
While Europeans and businesses like Formula 1 (@F1), which just signed an agreement with #Kagame’s Rwanda, are apparently prepared to look the other way, the United States must stay true to democracy and the rule of law and hold President Kagame and his associates accountable.

We find the reports that the Nigerian Presidency (@officialABAT) and its agents are allegedly plotting to assassinate former Nigerian Vice President @atiku Abubakar very troubling. Despite a reported $9 million D.C. engagement and $700 billion in mines, they can't beat him in D.C., they can't beat him in Nigeria, so their only option is to kill him.
President @realDonaldTrump has survived multiple assassination attempts, so we know the lengths evil people will go to to stop change. Dr. Von Batten fully intends to bring these latest allegations against Nigerian President Bola Tinubu to the attention of the Trump Administration and Congress.
The United States has given President #Tinubu enough rope. A word of advice to President Tinubu and company: Do not test the United States and President Trump with a political assassination that will cause geopolitical shockwaves and force the United States to act. It will not end well for you.

The @nytimes article's headline is misleading. Whether intentionally or unintentionally, it casts the DRC in a negative light, despite presenting no evidence that the DRC engaged in wrongdoing in connection with the $17.6 million transfer to TX-AT, a Texas-based defense firm.
The article does not even allege that the DRC participated in the disputed diversion of funds, authorized improper payments, or knowingly engaged in misconduct. Yet, by featuring the DRC in the headline without establishing any wrongdoing, the article has led readers to associate the DRC with allegations of corruption.
In the interest of journalistic integrity, @nytimes, @tylerpager, @AKurmanaev, and Managing Editors @marclacey and @carolynryan should revise the headline to accurately reflect the nature of the dispute and clarify that the article presents no evidence of wrongdoing by the DRC government.

Congolese reporters seem to have unfortunately misunderstood the facts in the @nytimes article referenced below. According to the article, $17.6 million was transferred from a DRC government account to TX-AT, a Texas-based defense and security firm that supplies defense equipment to U.S. and international law enforcement agencies. The DRC is fighting a war involving Rwanda and #M23, so a transaction with an American defense supplier is not, in itself, unusual. We need more of this.
The problem is that TX-AT is now linked to a brewing scandal in D.C. And despite attempts by President @PaulKagame's agents and allies to connect the DRC to this controversy, the payment itself does not establish wrongdoing by the DRC government. Just as you are not responsible for how your landlord spends your rent money, the DRC is not responsible for how an American company spends funds received for military equipment.
The DRC is fighting for its survival, and misinformation is President @PaulKagame's favorite weapon. Congolese journalists must avoid unintentionally spreading misinformation that could be used to discredit the DRC before the United States Congress and the world. Report the facts. It might save your country.

American company Anzana Electric has signed a $1.4 billion public-private partnership with the Government of Burundi to transform the country's electricity grid, the largest investment in Burundi's history. Over the next several years, the agreement will raise the electrification rate from 12 percent to 70 percent, bringing reliable power to millions of Burundians for the first time. A modern grid will open the door to a new wave of U.S. private-sector investment and strengthen U.S. supply chains, including in mining and agro-processing. Building it will put thousands of Burundians to work, proving what partnership with American business can deliver for both our countries.
As we prepare to spend the weekend with our friends and families, I want all members of the @WhiteHouse, @HouseGOP, @HouseDemocrats, @SenateGOP, and @SenateDems to remember the countless American lives lost and families destroyed by illegal narcotics. Some of those lives may have been those of your sons, daughters, or fathers.
Then remember that Nigerian President Bola Tinubu (@officialABAT) is alleged to have been part of a criminal organization that smuggled heroin from Nigeria into the United States during the 1980s and 1990s. How many of those American lives lost or destroyed are allegedly linked to President Tinubu? The United States cannot allow this man to escape justice.

The news article below offers a glimpse into why the DRC and its duly elected government are under attack. Ever since President #Tshisekedi signed a historic minerals partnership with the United States, the attacks against him and the DRC have intensified.
Just yesterday, Belgian authorities raided the homes of President Tshisekedi’s family members in Belgium. This occurred just days after former DRC President #Kabila admitted to leading #M23 and stated his intent to illegally remove President Tshisekedi from office. The timing cannot simply be a coincidence.
The Europeans and their friend, President @PaulKagame, view the DRC as their domain. The U.S. playing a key role in the DRC is a threat to European exploitation of the Congolese people. The United States should deepen its friendship with the DRC, for our shared economic and national security interests are now intertwined.

The @WorldBankGroup is not announcing a new $5.79 billion loan to President Bola Tinubu's (@officialABAT) government. Instead, it is describing efforts to assist President Tinubu's government in mobilizing up to an additional $5.79 billion in private-sector financing for Nigeria. The question is, why?
This new effort by the World Bank raises questions about the Bank's true assessment of #Nigeria's credit risk. The World Bank is a bank, and its primary business model is to make money by charging interest on loaned funds. The World Bank is not known for being altruistic, so why is it not lending the $5.79 billion directly to President #Tinubu's government?
Furthermore, financially stable governments do not need the World Bank to act as a middleman. The United States, as the largest shareholder of the World Bank, needs to start asking serious questions before, in a few years, we are once again asked to forgive billions of dollars in loans that never reached the people but were instead stolen by corrupt politicians.

I welcome the World Bank Group’s work to mobilise up to $5.79 billion in private financing for Nigeria. This partnership supports our efforts to help businesses expand and attract investment into agriculture and digital infrastructure.
Nigeria has gone a step further to put together a pipeline of 65 bankable projects seeking $78.5 billion in investment. Our Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele @taiwoyedele, presented these opportunities alongside CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso at the Nigeria Investors Forum, on the sidelines of the 2026 IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings in Bangkok.
I invite Nigerian and international investors to examine these projects and engage directly with their sponsors through Projects Nigeria. Our administration will work with you to resolve obstacles and move viable investments into execution, creating jobs and expanding opportunities for our people.

Yesterday, Dr. Von Batten met with Republican and Democratic congressional staffers to discuss a host of issues, including heroin-trafficking allegations concerning Nigerian President Bola Tinubu (@officialABAT). Note: President Tinubu is not fooling anyone with his attempt to rebrand himself as anti-drug.
If President Tinubu is committed to fighting drug trafficking, we challenge him to publicly call for the FBI to release all records concerning alleged heroin trafficking reportedly connected to him and to withdraw his petition before the @uscourts opposing their disclosure. Until then, his newfound anti-drug advocacy is nothing but a desperate stunt.

There is one central reason President @PaulKagame and former DRC President Kabila are working against the DRC, and it is called money. To be more specific, the #DRC’s vast mineral wealth. The shocking thing is that, as we have seen before, they are prepared to kill thousands, if not millions, of innocent Congolese fathers, mothers, and children to get it.
As the death toll rises, disease and hunger spread, and millions become refugees, the crisis will become a problem for Congress and President @realDonaldTrump. The world will once again turn to the U.S. for humanitarian relief and refugee resettlement. It would save lives and cost far less for the U.S. to go after Kagame and #Kabila now than to deal with the catastrophe they will unleash.

The long-held plan to destabilize the DRC and kill President Félix Tshisekedi is now out in the open. In December 2025, we said this: “We should not fool ourselves. In Kagame’s mind, his objective remains the destabilization of the #DRC and the political destruction of President Tshisekedi.”
President @PaulKagame, former President Kabila, and M23 are one and the same. President Tshisekedi is a target because he refused to go along with a plan to continue the exploitation of the DRC’s natural resources. The U.S.–DRC Minerals Partnership made him an even bigger target; America's enemies want us out of the #DRC.
Kagame and #Kabila have spat in the face of the U.S. too many times, and we must respond with legislative and military measures to protect the Congolese people and safeguard our national security interests. The U.S. must declare open war against Kagame and Kabila and make it clear that if they proceed with this course of action, it will not end well for them.

The world must not be deceived by @PaulKagame. Kagame is a long-term strategist. Kagame's ego and ambition will not allow him to stop until he achieve his objective. This is why we cannot rest for even a minute until the madman called Kagame is stopped.
@HouseForeignGOP @SenateForeign
According to the @realDonaldTrump Administration, Nigerian President Bola Tinubu’s (@officialABAT) government frequently uses illegal, coercive, arbitrary, and extrajudicial detention as leverage in settling disputes.
Example: In February 2024, President #Tinubu’s government arbitrarily detained a U.S. citizen after he arrived for meetings in Nigeria. He was detained over a business dispute. His passport was seized, and he spent over eight months in jail in a notorious high-security facility known for its harsh living conditions. He was released only as a result of U.S. diplomatic pressure on the #Tinubu government.
This is relevant because the Nigerian Presidency, through one of its ambassadors, threatened to have Dr. Von Batten detained, kidnapped, and physically harmed. This was followed by threats to refer Dr. Von Batten, a U.S. citizen, to Nigeria’s notorious security intelligence agency, have him charged with a crime, and extradite him to Nigeria.
We will be submitting the recent @StateDept report to the court in connection with our pending lawsuit against President Tinubu, Ambassador Fani-Kayode, and DCI Group.

We have long concluded that President Bola Tinubu (@officialABAT) and co. live in perpetual delusion. Despite a reported $9 million D.C. engagement, here are just a few reminders:
*President @realDonaldTrump and members of Congress are now fully aware of allegations that Nigerian President Tinubu was part of a criminal organization that smuggled heroin from Nigeria into the United States during the 1980s and 1990s.
* President #Tinubu’s planned @UN meeting with President #Trump blocked.
* The effort to secure a photo-op with President Trump and President #Tinubu blocked.
* The push for a #Tinubu White House meeting blocked.
* The effort to secure U.S. support for #Tinubu’s presidential campaign against other candidates blocked.
* Congressional leadership support for President #Tinubu blocked.
* The U.S. gained access to $700 billion in mines while President #Tinubu got nothing. Achieved.
* Congressional bill targeting President Tinubu's government and election integrity introduced.
* President Tinubu classified as a liability. Achieved.
Dear President #Tinubu, by God's grace, we are only just getting started. You allegedly smuggled heroin (poison) into our country. We will not stop until you are one day indicted and join Nicolás Maduro. That is a promise.

This is Dr. Von Batten. With the introduction of the bipartisan bill, Congress is making its opinion and intentions clear. The United States will aggressively pursue our strategic mineral needs while maintaining the core values that make us different from #China and exceptional among other nations.
The United States will not set aside its integrity and values for access to critical minerals and metals. With the explicit mention of #Nigeria in the bill, Congress is putting Nigerian President Bola Tinubu (@officialABAT) and other foreign governments on notice.
Apart from mining, under the bill's proposed U.S. Cyber and Digital Technology Procurement Program, the U.S. Secretary of State would assess whether a foreign government uses, or is likely to use, technology to:
1. Interfere with elections — including using technology to limit or control elections or protests.
2. Target opposition parties — including monitoring political opponents, activists, journalists, and political dissidents.
3. Suppress political speech — including censorship or targeting people for their political views.
4. Commit transnational repression — including using technology to target critics beyond the government's borders.
@realDonaldTrump @WhiteHouse @HouseGOP @HouseDemocrats @washingtonpost @CNN @PressSec
We thank Congressman @RepHuizenga and the amazing Congresswoman @RepYoungKim for introducing the bipartisan bill H.R. 10675. It is in the interest of the United States to ensure that mining deals across Africa, especially in #Nigeria, abide by anti-corruption, child labor, and transparency laws. @HouseGOP and @HouseDemocrats are united on this issue.
H.R. 10675 explicitly names #Nigeria in provisions addressing questionable mining operations involving forced labor, child labor, and environmental harm, and also targets corruption, political repression, election interference, and transnational repression. The bill bans technology assistance to foreign governments engaged in election interference, suppression of political opponents, and the use of technology to intimidate critics.
Let Nigerian President Bola Tinubu (@officialABAT) be on notice: The U.S.–Nigeria mining MOU is not a blank check or an endorsement of your presidency. We will continue urging Congress and the @realDonaldTrump Administration to scrutinize the agreement's beneficiaries. President Tinubu's government is not above congressional oversight, regardless of whether @Republicans or @Democrats control Congress.
