Imagine needing $40B 4 months after raising $75B at a $2T valuation just to buy the main input of your business
FT: Elon Musk’s SpaceX is seeking to raise $40bn to purchase Nvidia chips as the AI and rocket group amplifies its bet on the chipmaker’s advanced technology.

I’m even more convinced that generative AI may well *throttle science.* AI is a very powerful, transformative technology but flashy early effects really aren’t a good way to think about long term structural dynamics. Gift link to my case in the NYT. nytimes.com/2026/09/22/opini…
Was this deadpan? As if we hadn’t experienced the internet era. Let me re-up: plausible that LLMs will slow down science *today* while *also* destroying the very processes that would eventually lead to better science tomorrow. Yes, I know of Erdős problems. Think one more step.

This Boring Company nonsense is worse than all of the promotional shitco microcaps growth investors not worth their salt drool about. Has the Boring Company ever built anything? I remember seeing promotional dog crap about this from like 2016. Hyperloop LMAO. How about we just build some trains in this country? And stop relying on cars so much?

Some may have forgotten, but "AI extinction" is the same old song and dance. In 2023 Altman tipped what his desired endgame is during a meeting with Biden and Kamala: a "government-issued license" for makers of large AI models. This is all about crushing competition

I think the plan is to get researchers to start using their AI with a limited compute budget, then once they have all the academic data, they’ll basically steal all their ideas from underneath them and run the research internally with their unlimited compute budget!
We’re giving scientists, mathematicians, and engineers free access to our frontier models—starting with 10,000 researchers and expanding to 100,000 through 2027. ChatGPT for Academic Researchers is built to accelerate discovery across disciplines.

Did anyone else notice that as soon as AI became super smart, an idea emerged from somewhere suggesting we put all our computing power in outer space where humans couldn’t quickly reach it in an emergency?

Lotta people still mad the Fed didn't do what they wanted. Strange how accustomed people have become to the Fed explicitly telling them what to do with their portfolios. Illusion of risk vs actual risk.
