When I was a kid in the 80s, my mom had a big group of friends she took a girls’ trip with every summer. Just a weekend away, a couple hours from home in Michigan - 8 women sharing 4 beds in 2 adjoining hotel rooms, because they were all working class broads with bills to pay and kids to feed. But they did it. Every year. In 1995, my mom died - the 1st among them. The other 7 kept going. Another passed around 2008ish. The other 6 kept going. 2 more passed in quick succession in 2018. The remaining 4 kept going. Another passed 2 years ago. There are 3 left - all in their early-to-mid 70s now - and they still go. I’m only in touch with one of them anymore, and I see her pictures online every year, and I just wanna say with my whole chest that I think this is fucking fabulous and I feel really fucking fortunate to have a similar group of girlfriends who know how to have fun, prioritize doing it, and are game to do it sans spouses & kids.
And I really think some people should get outta their heads and outta their homes and do this sort of shit more often.
Learning to use a computer at 82 and spending seven years on a 6,000 word dictionary, that is incredible dedication. So glad her recordings mean younger generations can still learn Wukchumni.

This is why I wear an N95 in every building except my own home.
Our son has lost so many friends to covid, we have to space out telling him of their deaths.
My cousin who I haven’t spoken to since around 2021/2022 after she became irate after I shared Covid information with her grandmother, posted that she lost her Mom, son, and uncle in 2020.
She lost her step-sister, fiancé and who would have been in MIL in 2021.
She lost her best friend, brother, and two of her friends from high school in 2022. (She is in her mid 40s).
She lost her aunt, 2 cousins, a friend from work, and her manager in 2023.
She lost two dogs that originally belong to one of her cousins that passed on her father’s side after only having them for a few weeks in 2024.
The same year, her daughter who is now 11 years old, lost her best friend and her best friend’s Mom died. She also lost both of her remaining aunts.
In 2025, her department combined with another department at work because what used to be 8 people was now down to 2.
Three people died. Two went out on medical leave and didn’t return, and one went out on disability in December 2024.
She stated that most of her weekends in 2026 has been driving her grandmother to funerals..and that her grandmother has outlived all 6 of her children….5 daughters including her mother, (one daughter died in Nov/Dec 2019 from “pneumonia”), and a son.
THEN SHE SAID….. “I can’t even imagine Covid being as bad as the SUPER COLDS that they couldn’t shake. Knock on wood, none of us got Covid.”
….and for me…this is why distance is good to maintain sanity,

that's some nice heartbreak you have there, would be a shame if the Venus ℞ helped you process that in order for you to fully move on

Calling someone a saint just for dating or marrying a disabled or chronically ill person is such a backhanded insult.

As a U.S. immigration attorney, I occasionally get (and have to refer out) outbound immigration requests from U.S. citizens. The amount of shocked faces I get when I explain “Yeah, so every country has their own immigration laws,” is honestly so funny, lol

You guys self sacrifice and make it seem like the assertive person asking for what they want is the bad person?

Genuinely doesn't matter how "avoidant" you are as a woman you will never be as evil or apathetic as ur male counterpart

I think one of the unfortunate things abt being accommodating is that ppl eventually stop recognizing your flexibility as something you're choosing to give them. It becomes the baseline for the relationship. Then the first time you prioritize yourself, you’re demonized
