Our poppies and our remembrance are being sneered at more and more.
When people keep talking down the poppy and treating patriotism like something to be ashamed of, it sends a message. In my view, that's giving the vandals a green light.
War memorials defaced. Poppies ripped down. Tributes to our heroes disrespected.
The men and women who died for this country deserve better. Lest we forget means NEVER forget.

On Mountain Rescue Awareness Day, we send our heartfelt thanks to all those who volunteer their time and expertise to keep people safe in some of our most beautiful but challenging landscapes.
Through our connection with this remarkable organisation, we have seen first-hand the dedication, professionalism and compassion that define their work.
Meeting local mountain rescue teams during the Three Peaks Challenge this summer was an opportunity to say thank you in person for the vital role they play in keeping walkers and climbers safe on the mountains all year round.
We are incredibly proud to support the extraordinary volunteers who respond in all conditions, often at a moment’s notice, to help others when they need it most. To everyone across the mountain rescue community, thank you for your unwavering commitment, courage and service.

The House of Lords has backed giving Chagossians a veto over handing the islands to Mauritius, in a fresh headache for Andy Burnham over the deal.
Peers waved through a private member’s bill that seeks to keep the Chagos Islands under British control unless three conditions are met.

London’s 700-year-old bridge charity just handed £1.17 million to the Muslim Charities Forum. The treasurer at the time was also a trustee of Al-Khair the big Muslim aid charity now under a formal Charity Commission investigation over alleged Hamas links, with a connected figure facing US charges of material support to the group.
MCF says the money never reached Al-Khair and the guy has stepped back. Fine.
But this is a charity whose actual job is keeping London’s bridges standing.
Instead it’s pouring surplus millions into “social justice” outfits while several Thames crossings are cracked, weight-limited, or shut to traffic.
