“Too often, some of the groups demanding answers seem unwilling to accept any answer that results in people remaining on the water.”
My take in @postandcourier on solutions vs. environmental grandstanding as SC begins its 14-day red snapper season Friday:

Cooperative federalism works! South Atlantic anglers have waited too long for meaningful red snapper access. While these EFPs don’t solve every problem in fisheries management, they are an important a step in the right direction…providing more days on the water and improving the data driving management. CSP thanks the administration and Fla., Ga. and S.C. for finding a path forward together. fisheries.noaa.gov/bulletin/…
🎣 The longest SC red snapper season in 17 years is coming.
NOAA has approved South Carolina’s EFP, giving anglers at least 14 days of recreational access Oct. 9–22, 12 more days than last year.
“I’ve always said South Carolina knows best how to manage the fisheries off our coast. This EFP is an important step toward state-led management and gives us the opportunity to collect better data while protecting the resource. I look forward to continuing our work to ensure South Carolina anglers have fair access to an abundant fishery for years to come.” — @AGAlanWilson

We’re proud to be included among so many respected leaders from across the outdoor community celebrating President Trump’s historic action for America’s hunters and anglers.
A landmark moment for saltwater recreational fishing and the millions of Americans who depend on meaningful access to our nation’s waters.

Big news for recreational boating and fishing, and especially meaningful for South Carolina, where we build boats and marine products used across the globe.
Kudos to our national coalition partners who worked so hard to make this Executive Order a reality. 🇺🇸🎣
Thank you, @realDonaldTrump 🫡

This is progress — and a big win — for Gulf anglers and common-sense conservation. The Marine Fisheries Habitat Protection Act gives us a smarter path forward.

Higher fuel prices hit S.C.-based manufacturers twice—from petroleum-based materials like resin to shipping finished products like boats. Those costs ultimately hit consumers. It’s time for relief. Thank you @CodyForSC and @AGAlanWilson for pushing this issue.
South Carolina small businesses are paying roughly 52 cents per gallon in state and federal taxes on diesel fuel alone while prices are now well over $6.00 a gallon.
Our farmers, foresters/loggers, truckers, and small businesses need relief at the pump, and we need it NOW!
Call your members of the General Assembly and Congress and urge them to suspend the state and federal gas and diesel taxes!

THANK YOU @AGAlanWilson FOR STANDING WITH OUR FARMERS AND FAMILIES IN SOUTH CAROLINA.
Our entire supply chain needs relief from rising costs, and that starts at the pump!
We must continue fighting for rural SC!
South Carolina families can’t afford to wait on Columbia when they’re getting crushed at the pump. AG Alan Wilson believes the Governor should be able to act quickly and temporarily suspend the gas tax when fuel prices surge. – @TeamWilsonSC

Big news for saltwater anglers! The bipartisan MAPOceans Act has passed Congress and is headed to the POTUS' desk. The bill will help make fishing regulations, boundaries & access info. easier for anglers to find and use. More from our partners @TheTRCP: bit.ly/4h5ua1l

“SCBFA has proudly supported this bill from the beginning. We especially thank @RepRussellFry for his leadership in the House and Senators @SenAngusKing and @tedcruz for getting it across the finish line.” — @RGettysIII

Great to join Sen. @DarlineGrahamSC and her team today at Tidewater Boats to showcase an industry that means so much to SC.
Boating & fishing support 27,000+ jobs, contribute nearly $7B to our economy, & SC builds 22%+ of all outboard-powered fiberglass boats sold in the US. 🇺🇸
SCBFA was proud to welcome Sen. @DarlineGrahamSC and her team to Tidewater Boats in Lexington today for a firsthand look at South Carolina’s boating and fishing industry.
Boating and fishing contribute nearly $7 billion to our state’s economy, support more than 27,000 jobs, and more than 22% of all outboard-powered fiberglass boats sold in the United States are built right here in South Carolina.
Thank you, Senator Graham, for taking the time to meet with industry leaders and learn more about an industry that is such an important part of South Carolina’s economy and identity. 🇺🇸
It may be Election Day, but don’t forget to submit your public comment in support of an October red snapper season ⬇️

South Atlantic anglers know what they're seeing on the water: red snapper are abundant.
The state EFPs are an opportunity to collect better data and build better management around this healthy fishery.
Tell NOAA (by Aug. 25): Approve the EFPs.

Fact check: True ✅
Congressman @RussellFrySC has become a go-to advocate for the outdoors during his time in Congress. He understands anglers, hunters, and boaters are worth fighting for.
I’ve been a proud fighter for South Carolina’s outdoors since my first day in Congress.
South Carolina’s boating, fishing, and outdoor recreation economy supports more than 27,000 jobs and generates over $6.5 billion in economic impact each year. It’s part of who we are, and it’s worth fighting for.
I helped lead the fight against the Biden Administration’s proposed 11 mph vessel speed rule, and alongside President Trump, we stopped it in early 2025.
As co-chair of the South Atlantic Red Snapper Task Force, I’ve fought to return fisheries management to the states, where it belongs. We’re making real progress despite relentless environmental lawfare from extremist groups that would rather lock you out of our waters than trust the people who know them best.
In the United States Senate, I’ll always stand with South Carolina’s anglers, hunters, boaters, and outdoorsmen. I’ll defend your constitutional rights, protect your right to hunt and fish, expand access to our public lands and waters, and fight for the thousands of South Carolina jobs that depend on our outdoor economy.
The outdoors isn’t just our heritage. It’s one of South Carolina’s greatest economic assets. I’ll never stop fighting to protect both.

“Even by DC standards, that’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. I’ve got your back.” A nice version of what our Sr. Senator told me when I said NOAA wanted a 10 mph speed limit on boats. No matter the global headlines, Sen. Graham always put S.C. first. We’ll miss him.
The South Carolina boating & fishing community lost one of its strongest advocates this weekend. Senator Lindsey Graham never believed outdoors issues were too small to matter. We are grateful for his friendship, his leadership, and his unwavering support. He will be deeply missed. Our prayers are with his family, staff, and all South Carolinians. Rest in peace, Senator.
