Media Statement | Brutal attack on North West farmer proves that more should be done about farm attacks
PRETORIA – The attack on a North West farmer, during which he was shot, stabbed, and had his ears cut off, is evidence of the fact that more should be done to combat farm attacks in South Africa, said Lex Libertas. The think tank and advocacy group added that it intends to announce a second phase of the White Cross Project soon, which would include displaying three thousand white crosses in front of the Union Buildings about the South African government’s lack of care regarding farm murders.
Netwerk24 today reported that Donovan Marx (50) was attacked on his farm between Potchefstroom and Ventersdorp this morning. He is currently receiving treatment in Potchefstroom.
Dr Ernst Roets, Executive Director of Lex Libertas, has reiterated that farm attacks constitute a unique crime phenomenon for a variety of reasons, including the frequency and the brutality thereof. ‘Most concerning, despite the severity of the crisis, this is the only crime phenomenon in South Africa that is both openly encouraged and actively denied by some of the most influential politicians in the country.’ He added that President Ramaphosa himself openly stated during an international event in New York City in 2018 that ‘there are no killings of farmers or white farmers in South Africa.’
In September this year, Lex Libertas, in partnership with the New York Young Republican Club, displayed 3,000 white crosses on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., to raise international support for interventions regarding the farm attack crisis in South Africa. The institution will announce several steps to be implemented as part of Phase Two of the White Cross Project within the next week. This will include bringing the crosses that were displayed in Washington to South Africa and displaying them in front of the Union Buildings in Pretoria.
Lex Libertas has once again called on the South African government to implement measurable steps to combat farm attacks, and added that the persistence of the crisis is evidence of the need for decentralisation in South Africa. ‘Those in power in South Africa are simply too far removed from those who suffer the consequences of their decisions and lack of action. Political power should be brought closer to the people.’
Lex Libertas is a South Africa-based think tank and advocacy group working towards a viable political order for the peoples of South Africa, based on the principles of freedom, decentralisation, and self-governance.

Nearly 200 companies have delisted from the JSE.
Cheap Chinese imports are the reason. Local sugar, steel, bricks and vehicle parts are being wiped out.
The trade deficit with China is now R198 billion. Parks Tau is celebrating it.
The ANC is trading factories for friendship with Beijing.

Replying to @AFRICANDEMOC
@AFRICANDEMOC, you turned a dad in Pinetown who got ambushed by armed carjackers outside his house, returned fire while shielding his daughter, and killed one of them into a fantasy about “three Black former employees” and destroyed homes.
Meanwhile your own record is public. Your Indonesian wife who accused you of domestic violence, died of cancer in 2019, after which abuse allegations against your kids (including a Down syndrome child with a J88 report consistent with sexual penetration) led a Western Cape High Court to strip you of guardianship in 2022 and send the children to Indonesia. Your second wife fled with all six kids. The Indonesian Consulate had to step in.
You’re demanding justice for imaginary victims while the courts already ruled on the real ones in your own house. Sidney Hill protected his children. You lost yours. The irony is doing all the work.

Elon Musk's Starlink has committed R500 million to provide free internet to 5 000 rural South African schools indefinitely, potentially benefiting 2.4 million children annually. The offer remains stalled by South Africa's telecommunications ownership regulations.

The Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa (BCCSA) has dismissed eNCA’s application for leave to appeal against both its finding and sanction.
The news channel must now broadcast the prescribed correction and apology to Solidarity, unless it appeals again.
The case stems from a broadcast on 25 March 2026 in which eNCA presenters claimed that Solidarity had been spreading messages about genocide in the United States.
The BCCSA found that the broadcast created an inaccurate and unfair impression of Solidarity’s position.
Despite eNCA’s determined attempt to overturn the finding or have the sanction reduced, the original ruling therefore stands. The BCCSA found that eNCA had failed to demonstrate that the tribunal’s decision was clearly wrong.
A presenter must now read the following statement on the same morning programme:

A large segment of the media and the commentariat declared us “guilty” – without evidence – of being responsible for the deteriorating relations with the US.
Our stance should therefore be made clear:
• We do not long for the past, nor do we look forward to the future under the ANC;
• We disagree with the ANC but we love the country and its people;
• We support the sovereignty of South Africa but do not believe in the sovereignty of the ANC. Differences with the US should be addressed by the government of national unity.
• We choose the interests of South Africa over those of the White House or Luthuli House;
• South Africa should pursue a non-aligned foreign policy and the national interest must take precedence over loyalties and alliances dating from the Cold War era;
• Good relations between South Africa and the US are in the national interest.
• If relations deteriorate further, workers and ordinary people will suffer, not the governing elite;
• We refuse to serve as a scapegoat for the government’s failed diplomacy and policies;
• We reject attempts by radical politicians to vent their anger towards Trump on us;
• The only “misinformation” was the claim that we were spreading “misinformation”;
• We are not involved in the refugee programme. We believe he future of Afrikaners lies in South Africa. We are striving to create conditions that will allow Afrikaners to remain sustainably in the country, enabling us to make a contribution to the well-being of the country and all its people;
• We are committed to preserving our language and culture for future generations.
