BREAKING: Neil Young has just sued Trump for playing "Rockin' in the Free World" at his rally in Ohio. The lawsuit states: “In short, the Song is the opposite of everything that Donald J. Trump stands for.” Thank you Mr. Young!

Another good day for press freedom, similar to what happened in Hungary when Orbán lost. Will anyone at Fox News apologize or resign for being state TV if the Democrats sweep the midterms?
📺 “We reported events one-sidedly for years”: Serbian TV apologizes to viewers after Vučić's party loses the election Radio Television of Vojvodina (RTV) opened its news broadcast with footage of celebrations following the Student List's election victory — scenes it had failed to show the previous evening. “For years, we failed to fulfill our duty. We kept silent, turned a blind eye, reported events one-sidedly, and failed to ask the necessary questions. For that, we owe our viewers an apology,” news anchor Goran Eror said. Following the controversy, RTV's acting editor-in-chief Nenad Čačić resigned. A similar incident occurred in Hungary, where state television also apologized to viewers after Viktor Orbán's election defeat.

Today, Norway’s Jonas Gahr Støre and Finland’s Alexander Stubb called Putin directly, in consultation with Ukraine, ahead of planned talks in Abu Dhabi. Both reaffirmed their support for Kyiv. These are NATO neighbours of Russia whose security depends on what happens next. They were speaking for their own countries, without a mandate to represent Europe as a whole. But the initiative points towards something Europe urgently needs: to conduct its own diplomacy while keeping Ukraine central. Supporting Ukraine and speaking directly to its aggressor are entirely compatible. gandalv.substack.com/p/washi…

This chart is insane. This shows Russia's casualties over time compared to Russia's territorial gains in Ukraine over the last five years. No sane or rational person would say continuing the war to try and take more of Ukraine's territory is worth the casualties.

Same old story. Free speech is essential until they control the platforms. There’s too much billionaire money in politics until it’s their money. Too much debt until they’re in charge of spending. The Dems are too soft on defense until it’s time to kiss Putin’s ass.
Elon Musk has spent more money on American elections in the last two years than George Soros has in his entire life.

This is so intelligent, I want to cry: The 140 seats won by the student opposition against Serbia's nationalist government party will be taken up not by students, but by academics, professors & public figures from pre-chosen pool of 250 experts, selected by student plenums.

Ukrainian Mi-24 pilot Air Davy showed the warm welcome he received from residents of Kharkiv region as he returned from a combat mission in Donetsk region. "It's really special when Ukrainians greet you like this. It brought tears to my eyes. We see you waving to us, and we wave back, too," he wrote. 📹: airdavy / TikTok

She is absolutely right. Calling Hitler a left-wing socialist is not analysis. It is the far right looking into a mirror and demanding that someone change the label on the frame. The leader worship, the scapegoating of minorities, the contempt for democratic restraints, the obsession with internal enemies, the promise of national greatness through intimidation: an uncomfortable amount of the political sales pitch looks familiar. Hence the rebranding. If they cannot bear what the mirror shows, they can rewrite the caption. Unfortunately, Elon, the mirror is working perfectly.

This is Novi Sad, the site of the horrific awning collapse that killed 16 people, sparking the massive student-led protests that led to Vučić's demise two years later. Seeing the entire place bounce like this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime thing.

4/ 🇷🇸🇭🇺🇷🇺 First Orbán. Now Vučić. Two of Putin’s most useful European accomplices removed by their own voters in six months. Vučić joins the growing list of discarded Kremlin assets — Yanukovych, Orbán, Assad — who thought Moscow’s backing would keep them in power forever.

1/ 🇷🇸🇷🇺 Vučić just lost Serbia. russia’s most useful Balkan ally called a snap election to cling to power. Students who spent 2 yrs in the streets crushed him. Moscow spent a decade buying influence with cheap gas & political cover. Europe didn't oust him. Serbians did.

Oh, Tina, Russians really shouldn't be delivering public lectures about rule violations. Your country violated the most sacred rule of all in the international system by invading and annexing your neighbor's territory. I won't even mention the kidnapping, terrorism, and killing of innocent civilians. Those are violations of international law too. Please spare us. P.S. Isn't X banned in Russia? Aren't you violating your president's rules by tweeting here?
If this is against the rules, why are violators still allowed to use Starlink?

I’ll take a shot at answering one of these good questions. These poor young people are not dying for "no reason". They’re dying because Vladimir Putin's Russia invaded Ukraine and Ukrainians don’t want to be murdered. I hope this helps.

Let me make something absolutely clear. Ukraine did not invade Russia. Russia invaded Ukraine. Ukrainians are not fighting because Europeans want an endless war. We are fighting because Russia continues to attack our cities, occupy our territory, and kill our people. I woke up at 6 AM today because of a Russian drone attack near my home in Kyiv. And now I am reading accusations that those helping us defend ourselves are the ones prolonging this war. Do you understand how profoundly dishonest that argument is? If you genuinely want peace, explain how you intend to stop Russian aggression without stripping Ukrainians of their right to defend themselves. Peace is not the same as surrender. And demanding accountability from Russia is not warmongering. Stop blaming those resisting aggression for the aggression itself.

Elon’s claim regarding violations of the terms of service in Ukraine is, as confirmed by the 🇺🇦 Ukrainian side, false. Moreover, Elon has now admitted himself that he lied when he claimed he was not responsible for the slowing down of Starlink/Starshield services, as he has since confirmed that he throttled them himself. Also, Starlink can be jammed, something that has already happened many times on the 🇷🇺 Russian side. and the only reason this is not currently the case is that Ukraine has developed technologies to identify the sources of the interference and subsequently destroys them. Furthermore, while Ukraine is rightly very grateful for the system, the country would by no means collapse, not even close! Ukraine has proven that each time the system was shut down while relying on many other available option which are not as elegant but they work. In addition Ukraine is now getting its own system developed and installed too which will take time but they have alternatives if required in the meantime. Lastly, not supporting Ukraine means extending the war and creating many more deaths, destruction and suffering and the US Government in particular Trump has done a lot to avoid any help for Ukraine, even supporting Russia and continues to do so. So if there is someone to contempt the "endless slaughter and offer no realistic solution to the conflict" than it should be directed to those responsible which are the 🇺🇸 US and the 🇷🇺 Russian government. The war in Ukraine could have been brought to a swift end had the United States thrown its full weight behind Ukraine right at its start and provided everything necessary, but this did not happen under Biden and under Trump, support from the US went to Russia and against Ukraine.
Elon Musk claims that Ukraine allegedly violated Starlink's terms of use and used the system on combat drones. As someone who was inside the process at the Ministry of Defense, I can say with certainty that this is not true. In February of this year, whitelists were introduced. Stationary terminals could be registered by both military personnel and civilians. But for any satellite terminal to work while on the move, it had to be added to a special list and connected to the military Starshield system. Otherwise, no satellite communication terminals in Ukraine would work. In other words, using civilian Starlink for drone missions was technically impossible. All drone missions that required satellite communication could only be carried out using Starshield. We are very grateful to the United States and SpaceX for access to critically important satellite communications. Ukraine did not violate the terms of use.
