unherd.com/2026/10/how-trans… "At the centre of their concerns is the rise of so-called “affirmative care”: an approach which treats a young person’s declared gender identity as something to be validated rather than explored. Complicating the matter yet further is the Conversion Practices Bill, which will criminalise any attempt to instigate conversations around sexual orientation and gender."

If you want to watch live, the hearing runs roughly from noon to 2pm (UK time); I'll be speaking on the second panel, between roughly 1pm and 2pm. It'll be broadcast on Parliament TV (and available to watch back later once it's archived). parliamentlive.tv/Event/Inde…

Good luck to our brave and articulate soldiers, @HJoyceGender and @Jebadoo2, who are giving evidence on the evil Conversion Practices draft Bill in parliament today. Thank you 💪

'..blokes, luvvies, media types' - all of which featured heavily in my own tribunal. 'Too often, we see individual women facing tribunals or losing jobs because they will not say that a man is, in fact, a woman. But the truth is, the great majority of people are not prepared to take these men at their word, and they do not think children should be drugged, or that women should have to get undressed in front of men. That these views should ever have been deemed “transphobic” is an illustration of the insanity. Rowling is spot on about the class element and elitism of all of this. Those with the loudest voices – blokes, luvvies, media types – are very often those least affected by a lack of single-sex spaces.'

One of the many good reasons to use cheek swabs to keep fetishist men out of women's sports rather than genital exams is that the promise of genital exams would cause the fetishist men to line up for women's sports all the faster. The @washingtonpost tweet is, of course, a lie.
Five states have initiatives on the ballot to outlaw trans athletes in girls’ sports and gender transition treatment for children. Washington state could require genital exams for girls in school athletics. wapo.st/48nAxsN
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The Washington ballot initiative requires a healthcare provider's verification of biological sex for girls' school sports based on reproductive anatomy, genetic makeup or testosterone levels as part of routine physicals; it does not mandate genital exams. sos.wa.gov/sites/default/… ballotpedia.org/Washington_Ini…

Literally the only prerequisite to be a “transwoman” is to be a man. They’re men.

@RozaSalih is rightly being absolutely hammered for this idiotic post, utterly Convinced of the need for independence but utterly ignorant of the basics about the practicalities, you'd think the SNP would have a workshop to stop them making such idiots of themselves in public

If a teenage furry expresses deep distress and alarm at being told by a parent to ‘stop it now and take off that ridiculous costume and do your homework’ - are you able to guarantee that parent won’t be prosecuted? If an ex wife tells former husband he is not allowed to see his children if he is wearing a nappy and this makes him cry, are you able to guarantee that she won’t be prosecuted?

Sarah, clause 1(8) expressly addresses transgender identity. Expressing disgust isn't conversion therapy. You're a barrister. Surely you can engage with the actual legislation without resorting to furries and adult nappies? 🙄

There has been so far as I know, exactly zero research into the impact on babies of being fed by men who were induced to lactate with domperidone. I know of no other area where children are subjected to medical experiments to validate men. Only this. Always this, In my view, this is child abuse.
Everyone is allowed to have their own opinions for how other parents should raise their children No one should have the right to interfere with how other parents raise their children, unless there is clear and unmistakable evidence of harm. And there are millions of things that are more harmful than this that we grant parents the latitude to do with their children without state interference. Regardless of how icky or creepy you find the idea of trans women breastfeeding, to call it child abuse absolutely cheapens the definition of what child abuse actually is.

Males are able, after ingestion of considerable amounts of some quite dangerous substances, including Domperidone, able to produce some substance that is akin to breast milk. As far as I am aware there is ZERO research to show that a man has been able to sustain a baby nutritionally in this way - i.e. feed the baby day and night as opposed to producing a small amount of liquid every now and then- OR any research AT ALL on the impact on the baby of ingesting this hormonally induced substance. Women who are routinely told to avoid wine, cheese etc while breastfeeding, may understandably feel a very dangerous double standard exists here. And one that feeds male entitlement rather than a child's welfare.

The GLP’s spin on this is all about numbers in a consultation and petition. But the case will be decided on the interpretation of equality law for service providers and whether the City of London’s policy complies with it, not simply on who has voted for what
