Imagine Ruth moving to Bethlehem with a group of Moabites, setting up their own community, speaking their own language, worshipping their own gods, living by their own laws and customs, and keeping themselves separate from the Israelites.
She makes no effort to assimilate, ethnically or culturally, and sees nothing in Israel’s way of life worth adopting.
Israel wouldn’t tolerate it, but why do we?
In truth, Ruth’s story is about leaving her people, ways, and religion behind, not bringing them with her.
She is a picture of good, biblical immigration.
The thing about neo-paganism is that the gods of Norse mythology are hardly admirable figures. They’re not even particularly likeable.
They weren’t worshipped out of love and devotion, but largely out of obligation and self-interest. It was quid pro quo: serve the gods, earn their favour, advance yourself.
That’s why, when Marvel wanted to make Thor a hero, they had to make him less like the cruel, selfish Thor of Norse mythology and more like Christ: humble, self-sacrificial, and willing to lay down his life for others.
The irony is that to make a pagan god admirable, they had to make him less pagan and more Christian.

Unreal.
The court in Pakistan has just upheld the death sentence against a Christian man for "blasphemy".
Christians are the most persecuted religious group in the world.
Over 388 million Christians live under severe persecution worldwide.
And the media is largely silent.
Vile.

The United States Department of State has celebrated America’s Christian heritage in a social media post marking International Religious Freedom Day.
“America, more than any other nation in world history, was shaped by the Christian tradition of spreading the gospel unto all nations,” the department wrote.
The post was accompanied by a video of Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who said:
"Our faith calls us outwards into the limitless darkness of the unknown. It tells us to go forth and preach the gospel to the world as a witness unto all nations unto the ends of the earth.
"From that command came America. Our nation, more than any other in history, was shaped by this Christian idea. This is who we are.
"And from the beginning, we have carried the belief that our country represents something new in the world. But the soul of our nation has always been rooted in an ancient faith."

As disillusioned young Europeans turn to the pagan gods of their ancestors, they are embracing the very religion their forefathers abandoned, and often remaking its gods in the image of the Christ they reject.
There’s a growing temptation among young European men to look beyond their Christian heritage and return to the pagan religions that preceded it.
In an age of mass immigration, militant multiculturalism, and growing hostility towards Europe’s historic identity, the appeal is understandable. Many young Europeans are rediscovering an appreciation for their ancestry, their people, and the civilisation their forefathers built.
But some are looking in precisely the wrong direction.
Rather than recovering the faith that shaped European civilisation, they’re retreating into the mythology their ancestors rejected. In their attempt to reclaim their European identity, they’re abandoning one of the very things that made Europe what it became.
They’re exchanging Christ for Odin.
And the irony is that, to make these pagan gods worthy of admiration, they often have to remake them in the image of the very Christ they reject.

Replying to @Tom_Rowsell
Your system offers "sacrifices" to obtain favour from the gods. In this, you're no different from every other religious system. You differ only in what you call your pantheon.
Our ancestors abandoned this faulty system for Christ, who inverted that relationship. We do not sacrifice to Christ to obtain His favour, but because He has already shown us favour through the sacrifice of Himself.
Every system says, "I give so that you may give." Christianity says, "I give because he already gave."
Stop siding with those who crucified Christ. Side with your ancestors who embraced him for more than 1,500 years.

The whole "White people can't have countries because muh HitIer" bit has run its course.
White guilt just doesn't sell like it used to, sweetheart.
Arguing with "neo-pagans" about their imaginary pantheon is no different to arguing with Star Wars Jedi-cosplayers about the Force. One is old-world fantasy; the other is sci-fi. Other than that:
What’s ironic about this post is that the LARPers responding aren’t even trying to justify the immoral behaviour of their “gods.” Instead, they feel compelled to portray them as more Christian than implied, thereby proving the very point.

These groups aren’t demanding freedom from religion. They are demanding the authority to impose their own religious convictions upon institutions, organisations, and individuals who disagree with them.
Their “secular” morality is no less a system of belief simply because they refuse to call it a religion. What they cannot tolerate is the existence of an institution that recognises a moral authority higher than their own.
It’s like demanding membership in a political party whose principles you reject, then insisting the entire party abandon its founding convictions to accommodate your membership.
At that point, you’re not asking for inclusion. You are demanding the institution’s surrender.
And that is precisely what these organisations seek from Christian schools: not the freedom to live according to their own convictions, but the power to prevent Christians from living according to theirs.
