A private prison company offered Minnesota an empty prison for 75 million dollars. The state said no. Then Trump’s administration paid the same company almost 500 million for it. The prison has sat empty in Appleton, Minnesota since 2010. Last year CoreCivic emailed the state and offered to sell it for 75 million, upgrades included. Minnesota passed. Fifteen months later, Homeland Security bought it for an ICE detention center at 495.6 million. How could this be? You guessed it. CoreCivic gave half a million dollars to Trump’s inaugural committee. And it still gets paid about 75 million a year to run the place. Republicans love talking about fraud in Minnesota. JD Vance says his task force is all over it. So where are they on this one? I break it all down in today’s show (link in reply).

The biggest mistake that has been made in my lifetime was to let Donald J Trump go unpunished for his role in J6, the fake elector plot, and that phone call to Georgia. That led directly to the problems we have today. Impeachment is not the answer. Criminal prosecution is.

Pretty soon, you’re going to start to hear people tell you that it’s time to move on. They’ll say that accountability is too divisive, too hard, too costly. But here at The Rule of Law Project, we know that the rule of law is not self-executing. It is a culture sustained by the shared expectation that the law binds and protects everyone. Rebuilding that culture will take successful prosecutions. But it will take more than that. It will take a public that demands accountability, and elected officials who are committed to “a government of laws, not of men.” That’s why The Rule of Law Project is committed to winning the argument that criminal conduct by public officials must carry criminal consequences — and that no one, regardless of badge, office, or influence, is above the law.

Jessica: Trump said, “I don’t give a damn. We’re making a fortune.” You might wonder who “we” is. The “we” is him. He holds $81 million in oil and gas stocks. He made more stock trades than all 535 members of Congress put together.

In what workplace could anyone else say this? We’ve become numb to indecencies. I’m tired of it. Call me old-fashioned but I’m ready for a president with some dignity.
Trump: I looked at one hell of a beautiful ass before, Nicki Minaj. That's hard to miss.

Alex Pretti's father: We wish Alex was alive. This administration has taken that away from us. We will no longer stay silent about the actions of the Department of Justice. What we have been treated to is cruelty. By Dan Rosen in the US Attorney's office, from the Attorney General Todd Blanche, who has ignored our letter begging for basic information. They have shielded Alex's killers. This is not justice.

OBAMA: When I was president, all these Republicans are all deficits, deficits, debt, debt. You got to do something about it. And now—$40 trillion—Crickets. Somehow deficits only matter when a Democratic president is in office

Trump and his team act like they are mediating between two countries equally responsible for the war in Ukraine. That framework is morally and analytically wrong and does not advance peace. Treating Putin like he deserves something from his illegal, barbaric invasion only emboldens him to ask for more.

This is the last time we will ever vote to hold Trump accountable. He's lived without consequences his entire freakin life. He cheated on every wife, cheated on his taxes, cheated to get out of serving, cheated to get into school, screwed every contractor, employee, coworker, investor, bank, follower, and friend, spent years partying with the world's biggest pedophile, gave pentagon contracts to his sons, took a plane as a bribe, and made $2 billion as president by turning us into an ATM... He is a human crime factory.... He is what Al Capone and Bernie Madoff dreamt about... And yet... He's never stepped foot inside a prison cell. This is our last chance to shove justice in his fat face. Shit floats, but not above the law. Don't let him get away with it. Vote.

.@BarackObama: When you've been campaigning as long as I have, you can tell when an election comes along that just feels a little bit different. Where people are so ready for something new, something better, so sick and tired of being sick and tired that everywhere you go it feels like change is in the air. After 2 years of chaos, cruelty, corruption, and incompetence, the likes of which we have not seen in modern times, you get a chance to say, enough is enough.

Donald Trump is suing California over our voting rolls and STILL trying to rig the rules in his favor. This is not normal. And we cannot afford to sit back and pretend it is.

Good morning and Happy Sunday to everyone who agrees that it's been 636 days since Biden left office, when gas was $3.10 per gallon, it is time to STOP BLAMING PRESIDENT BIDEN for high gas and grocery prices. trump's tariffs and illegal war caused it.

I am grateful to all of you who are trying to keep Europe and the United States together. There are so many people with good hearts in America who sincerely want evil to lose and Ukraine to stand strong. These are the very hearts that helped Europe defend its freedom, and that fought on D-Day, won the Cold War, and want what is best for Europe. Hearts that want to be allies, not to divide or humiliate Europe. I believe most Americans still feel this way. And at the end of the day, the American people will have their say. Putin will listen to America if America really turns up the heat on him and makes one thing clear – either he chooses peace, or he gets no more money for his war. From an address to the participants of the European Council meeting. (2/5)
