BYU's offensive philosophy of dragging the game out, taking the play clock low, using all three downs, and limiting possessions is a sound strategy when you're playing with Independence-era personnel or are new to the P4.
It works when you're playing a team that, on paper, is probably better than you.
But as a P4 contender, all it does is keep inferior teams within striking distance.
BYU needs to start playing like they expect to blow teams out; stop playing like every game should be a dogfight.
