MWII01 is a low-coverage femur from the Abbey Church of Middelburg, traditionally attributed to William II, Count of Holland and King of the Romans. Historians have also named his brother Floris the Guardian.
I fitted the genome against medieval, Roman and Iron Age reference groups. I used 106 qpAdm models fixed before they were run, f3 and f4 statistics, Fst among 32 reference groups, a distal model and entropy-rescaled PCA distances.
What it shows: a single Netherlands Medieval Saxon source fits (p = 0.108), and no Slavic input is detectable. Only 4 of 104 two-source models are both feasible and precise. The Roman-period one, Denmark Roman Iron Age 90 % plus Imperial Rome (Lazio) 10 %, clears alpha by just 0.018. On the rescaled maps MWII01 sits with Low Countries and English medieval groups, and modern French, English and GBR cannot be told apart. Fst shows why: ten North Sea medieval and Viking groups differ by at most 3 × 10⁻³ from one another, so one low-coverage genome cannot say which of them it is closest to.
It says nothing about whose bones these are. Population ancestry cannot separate two brothers. Only kinship or Y-lineage could.

David massively revised his preprint. Check out the new version!
Some highlights are more evidence for why range expansion specifically works better than an admixture pulse and what genes may have been inherited from the expanding "mode 3" population

Makalemiz için ilk faz makine çıktıları çıkmaya başladı:
Dünyada çok az test edilmiş popülasyonlara odaklanıyoruz. İlk modern Ainu WGS sonuçlarından birini sunuyoruz:
Modern Ainu
Y-DNA: D-Z30649
mtDNA: A8a1
Doğu Asya Dolgan
Y-DNA: Q-FTC41264
mtDNA: G1b-a4
Afganistan Türkmen
Y-DNA: Q-YP1684
mtDNA: G2a2g

A quite recent conference abstract.
"In present-day Turks, 94 qpAdm models met all acceptance criteria, with a mean Central/Inner Asian related ancestry estimate of 13.7%."
Their estimate is just left of the midpoint of our 2022 estimate of 9-22%

I have no interest in petty nationalistic squabbling of this type. We chose to analyze the _full range_ of Central Asians from 500-1500 years ago and give a very broad 9-22% estimate range precisely to remove any subjective element in the choice of Central Asian source population

In all carriers, the variant was found on a European-ancestry haplotype. The team estimated TMRCA as ~1707 for British-ancestry carriers, predating many colonial voyages, so the mutation likely arose in Europe.

An Extremely interesting project and site focusing on Physical Traits based on Ancient DNA. Using this site, you can see estimated Hair, Eye and Skin colours, Metabolism types, and even Personality types, with the ability to switch between criteria and methods too.
For example here are estimated Hair Colors for 8000bc, 5000bc, 2500BC and 1250bc.
