If Congress wasn’t furious with Pete Hegseth before, it should be now.
The man is getting awfully big for his britches. He’s put out a video essentially telling Congress that impeachment won’t work, he isn’t going anywhere, and he and Trump don’t back down. Well, isn’t that something. The secretary of defense seems to think he’s above congressional oversight.
Apparently the midterms made no impression on this crowd. Voters sent a message. Hegseth’s response is to swagger into a camera and tell Congress to take a number.
Someone might remind him that he’s a Cabinet secretary, not the owner of the Pentagon. And his job isn’t his to declare permanent.
