a reindustrialization of the US homeland with the prosperity and sense of a national project that would bring along with an expansion of the national security apparatuses to train a new officer class, one that would include all kinds of overseas appointments and adventures, along with letters of marque and other private adjuncts to the state

we create the “reality” that we also simply “refer” to
even knowing this doesn’t extricate us from the paradox because any attempt to act on this knowledge just generates a new scene, with an uncertain outcome, on which new signs with the same paradoxical structure will be emitted

As a resource, we capture about as much insight from the collective human mind as we do energy from the sun: maybe 0.00000002%.
The biggest danger of AI is that is imbues this sense that there are no secrets left to discover. Couldn't be further from the truth. Nothing is ever finished. The depths of reality have no limit. Yet we think human minds are somehow substitutable/exhaustible, rather than these infinite resources from which wonders will continue to be produced. Such a Malthusian mindset.
AI will help us capture more insight from the collective human mind, but it will require tireless human effort: curiosity, courage, and agency.

Working on data security might be a moral imperative at the level of AI safety.

I will not stop until all learning and curiosity in the economy is priced, accelerated, and optimally allocated. Never give up.

"The “creation” of the human was an astonishing accomplishment against all odds requiring a new level of discipline, a new mode of courage and an unprecedented type of devotion in the participants on the originary scene, which would seem to suggest that at least some of us were made for such things."

A lot of talk of AGI, not a lot of talk about the sovereign data-security company.
the ultimate substrate of machine intelligence is tacit knowing, which is inexhaustible and replenished by every attempt to map it
infinite automation
Replying to @deepfates
we'll automate all of that and in doing that automation we'll find even more things we haven't automated and we'll automate those as well
it may be that the work we do will become more social, as the old tech-utopians from the 60s like Marshall McLuhan and Buckminister Fuller thought—lots of teaching one another to do all kinds of interesting things. As Gaston Bachelard predicted, society will be for school rather than school being for society.
eventually, money itself will be replaced by data as currency: learncoin

task factories
Building the task factory
Rather than **draining** a corpus of data, AI implementations will create novel data by exposing models to novel scenarios
As businesses in the real economy adopt AI and transform themselves, the models will encounter and create new edge cases, failures, and trajectory phenotypes. This will comprise new task types, traces, etc. to train the models.
New interactions ➡️ new failures ➡️ new, valuable tasks.
Collecting/outputting the trajectories of both those failed cases and the successful implementations will be a new revenue stream for those businesses.
Businesses of all stripes will become task factories selling ongoing exhaust to improve the models that are in turn improving them.

This mid 20 something loves Bouvard retweets, and has been working on an idea people interested in Adam’s work or GA might find useful: github.com/baartmans2/origin…
(this is mostly vibe coded, and with my startup taking most of my time, collaboration would be great).
