I think everyone should realize we’ve been in a market regime where the most entertaining outcome is the most likely since the pandemic.
In crypto land, $ZEC flipping $BTC over the next decade would be the most entertaining outcome.
My belief is that during this cycle, Zcash will create real fear in the hearts of Bitcoin maximalists
friendly reminder that $ZEC is still 1,300x away from flipping gold

Warsh mentioning AI credit spreads worsening as a reason for no hike reveals that AI is the 3rd mandate for the Fed
Warsh will be dovish today. Can’t let $ANT IPO fail. The AI arms race is the Feds 3rd mandate. It’s a national security issue at this point.
Security risks (AI-driven hacks, mathematical breakthroughs & quantum computing) have become increasingly concerning in recent weeks both personally & for the broader market.
$ZEC looks like the best way to play this, and the market is already showing us that with clear divergence vs BTC/ETH/SOL/HYPE/TOTAL3ES over the past couple weeks.
Additionally, short-term spot & derivatives positioning looks significantly cleaner vs earlier this month. ETF flows have just flipped positive again after ~3 weeks of outflows, while coin-denominated OI is at its lowest level since August.
Separately, OTC desks are still seeing strong interest from liquid & VC funds, with ZEC reportedly remaining one of the most bought altcoins by funds even at these elevated prices.
I generally view protocol upgrades as weak catalysts in isolation, but the January upgrade feels different. Tachyon addresses the scalability improvements the community has been waiting for, while the quantum component of the upgrade addresses one of the highest mindshare risks to the industry. Together, I think they make for a much stronger catalyst than either would on its own.
I haven’t looked too deeply into the underlying tech or whether the proposed upgrades will actually deliver meaningful quantum resistance, and I don’t care to. When all the tastemakers (Naval, Balaji, a16z, Paradigm, Dragonfly & Multicoin) are pushing the ZEC narrative as a hedge against BTC, the realities of what it’s tech can or can’t actually do aren’t part of the thesis.
The combination of improving positioning, continued institutional demand, relative strength & an increasingly powerful narrative makes for an attractive setup, even in shaky market conditions. I expect my conviction to continue building as we approach January.
I have no strong view on market direction over the coming months, and the quantum tailwind for ZEC is a headwind for BTC, so I’m hedged vs BTC on a vol-adjusted basis, but think a naked long is also justified.

I think the TAM is far larger than what most people can comprehend. Global private wealth ranges between $12-$15T.
If 0.1% of that wealth wanted to be shielded and transacted privately using a battle tested, ZK proof block chain, Zcash is the only chain with 10 years of product testing and iteration, that has finally won the regulators to exist broadly.
For context on what this magnitude of capital inflow would do to market cap. If 0.1% wealth moved to zcash, that would be ~$20B. The typical crypto market cap multiple is 10x.
$200B is the bear case.
$10,000 per Zcash is programmed.

Payward, the parent company of Kraken, announced its intention to be the first CFTC-regulated deployer on HIP-3* markets. Payward will use Hyperliquid as the infrastructure layer to deploy perpetual futures markets for US clients. Subject to regulatory approval, Bitnomial, Payward’s CFTC-regulated DCM and DCO, would act as the HIP-3* deployer: creating, owning, and administering the markets and clearing and settling the contracts. If approved, NinjaTrader Clearing, Payward’s CFTC-registered FCM, would carry client accounts.
HIP-3 will support optional deployer configuration for permissioned markets in a future network upgrade. This set of additional deployer functionality is collectively called HIP-3*. At its core, HIP-3* activation involves an onchain allowlist managed by the deployer or its sub-deployers. The functionality is strictly additive to HIP-3; its use is optional and up to the deployer. Existing markets remain unchanged. The initial release is available on testnet, where specifications are preliminary and subject to change based on feedback.
Hyperliquid is a neutral infrastructure layer with the goal of supporting large parts of the financial system. HIP-3* gives deployers additional functionality to operate deployments consistent with the requirements applicable to them. As with HIP-3, HIP-3* deployers are independent operators who use Hyperliquid as the onchain infrastructure layer for their own markets, while retaining control and responsibility over their deployment.

If the midterms do represent the starting pistol of a new leftist decade, companies have an incentive to cut staffing prior to the roll out of pro-labor policies which are bound to be the ESG of the AI era
even well before AI systems could reliably replace that human labor
