Oh, why not. Haven't had a chance to watch the movie yet but have heard you on a couple of podcasts and find this line of criticism the most confusing. It's not difficult to find employees across the companies who will talk at length about him making engineering decisions. I've seen this happen at Tesla, SpaceX and Neuralink firsthand. Mostly, though, I tend to think of the companies as being built by the thousands of employees and as group engineering exercises. There are tons of choices that have to be made and things that have to be fixed and resources marshalled. The top end of these tasks has quite often fallen to Musk. People had pretty much given up on electric cars until Tesla came along. You will argue that Martin and Marc had the idea for Tesla, which is fine. But it would not be a going concern without the engineering fixes that took place to finally get the Roadster over the line and then the tons of choices that turned the Model S into a very surprising success. This totally revitalized the electric car industry and made it a thing again. It changed the automotive industry worldwide. Many people made many engineering choices along the way. Musk included. There are just too many stories and anecdotes to deny this. SpaceX is perhaps the most dramatic example. People had tried and failed to build a commercial rocket company before. They have tried and failed since. Blue Origin and SpaceX started almost the same year, but only one of the two companies has changed the dynamics of the worldwide aerospace industry and our access to space. Many people deserve credit for this, but it's hard to argue that Musk was not the driving force behind a great deal of what SpaceX has achieved. SpaceX had far less resources than Blue Origin. The engineering accomplishments of SpaceX are pretty nuts. The US aerospace industry would be in terrible shape without them. We'd be unable to put humans in space, behind China on all fronts and very, very slow to do launches. Space is one of the last manufacturing and engineering strongholds for the US. Is this entirely because of Musk? Certainly not. Did he push the company forward on engineering? Certainly yes. Neuralink has a great, great deal still to prove. But it took products that were trapped in acamedia and advanced them dramatically. I would argue that this does not happen without the engineering pattern matching Musk has done across these other two industries. He pushed changes on semiconductor, materials, robotics and implant design. It's important to ask all these other questions about his empire and power and his evolution over time. And you're a tremendous filmmaker. This will no doubt come off as cheerleading. All I can say is that Elon and I have had a very tumultous relationship, and he's been plenty unkind to me at times. I don't really have a need to speak up here. Me writing this comes more from a place of confusion than anything else. The products are all very real, and there's a common denominator across them. It's difficult for me to see them as lucky accidents, particularly when rivals trying to do similar things have struggled so badly. All of these things are so difficult to build. Like verging on impossible. Why do you fixate on the engineering thing when there are so many other more real avenues to explore?

You don’t have even the tiniest bit of skepticism? Realism? 😅 I love tech and the future is going to be fun, but imagine if Hyundai or Audi or any other company pulled this stunt

SpaceX option package for new Tesla Roadster will include ~10 small rocket thrusters arranged seamlessly around car. These rocket engines dramatically improve acceleration, top speed, braking & cornering. Maybe they will even allow a Tesla to fly …

The Tesla Model 3 with FSD is mind-blowing. Jessica and I drove to the gym without touching the controls once. It backed out of our driveway, drove there, and backed into a parking space. It's amazing that you can buy so much future for $40k.

it’s honestly insane how much of the modern tech tree has been unlocked because of a single guy thanks to Elon we have - online payments - mass market electric cars - batteries and grid-scale energy storage - self driving cars and robotaxis - humanoid robots - advanced brain computer interfaces - next generation tunneling - reusable rockets -global satellite internet - basically the modern space industry - Moon and Mars transportation - orbital compute and space data centers - frontier AI - gigantic AI supercomputers - physical world AI and the wildest part is that these branches are now starting to merge there is a very real chance that this one guy ends up being the reason humanity reaches Kardashev II genuinely the man of the millennium

Delta, like any company, needs a CEO who puts customers first. Customers are the reason the business exists. Refusing to choose Starlink despite the harm that decision causes customers is reason enough to remove the CEO for being an imbecile.

I’m an Utah native and enjoying the new SLC airport. Closing in on becoming a 2 million miler in my mid 40’s. I choose Delta 90% of the time. The internet is next level bad. Fighting a better experience for all of your customers because of a personal beef is ridiculous.
Agreed! @Delta I’m Diamond too and a lifetime Atlanta native. I’ve got a ton of brand loyalty, and my greatest frustration is the trash internet. One flight with @Starlink has made me question all my decisions as a frequent flyer. Fix it and I’m a customer for life.

Nick Shirley (@nickshirleyy) & the $$ exposed in fraud across America: - $15B spent — California High-Speed Rail since 2008. No high-speed passenger track & zero cities connected. - $200B+ — current high-end estimate to complete the full California High-Speed Rail system - $110M — fraud Shirley said he uncovered in a single day investigating Minnesota - $170M — alleged fraud Shirley later said he uncovered in California - $10M+ — alleged California childcare fraud in a case where federal authorities have now charged 12 people - $1B+ — fraud uncovered by federal prosecutors across a broader series of Minnesota pandemic-era schemes, separate from what Shirley himself established in his videos + 68 people convicted in related Minnesota fraud schemes since 2021, according to federal prosecutors as reported by CBS
🚨 Welcome to the $15 billion California High Speed Rail to nowhere: Since 2008 California has spent $15 billion and has not connected a single city or laid a single track. It is now projected to cost more than $200 billion to finish despite being proved nearly impossible to complete. In 2008 China also announced a high-speed rail and has now connected the entire country with over 30,000 miles while California has connected 0 miles. Over $500 million has gone to contractors who could not work, homes are currently being built on the alignment, and farmers will lose their farms. In this video I go down the alignment of the high speed rail exposing the failures and confront the legislators in charge of this absolute disaster of a project. A prime example of fraud, waste and abuse of the taxpayer dollar.
