People should be aware of what is happening in the Kelsey Fitzsimmons case. It has all the red flags of another Massachusetts fiasco: gross overcharging that actually was checked by a grand jury, which is extraordinarily rare. It appears that the court and DA have little regard for serious mental health issues related to postpartum depression, which must be considered in appreciating the complete context of the case, whatever the facts may be in terms of the incident that led to Fitzsimmons being shot. There is a strong motive to falsify based upon ugly family arguments over a young child. And to see bail revoked and used as punishment last week, without the court considering the larger picture, the actual purpose of bail or attempting to accommodate all sides, instead opting to revoke bail on "dangerousness" grounds before walking off the bench mid-argument from counsel, is shocking.
