When someone asks me what I do for a living as a product designer... I'm just going to send them this
Literally what Iโm working on today. I think I went too far in the โUI for everythingโ direction but trying to find that fluid middle ground of โmake this easy for me to setup in plain languageโ and โlet me actually see the system Iโve builtโ
I think we're going to see a new wave of interest in usability.
Chat is hard on the brain. Total opposite of what Don Norman wrote about. 100% holding in your head, remembering things, special modes, etc.
Nobody wants the stuff in their kitchen to be in a different place each time they walk in.
System of record + recognizable display are not going away. What's new is how fluidly we can change state WITHIN those as users.
Kris nailed it. Iโll add: itโs ok to not have a hot take on what the future of design is going to look like. The reality is we donโt know. Just play, learn, and have some fun.

My latest "I'm going to build a random thing because I can" moment: A site for my company's fantasy football league where each week we get to throw tomatoes at the lowest scorer (and roses to the highest scorer if so inclined).
Apparently I have the 3rd highest claude token-spend at the company in the last 30 days. 1st place here I come.

Finally getting around to adding a design.md file into our repo.
Wasn't sure where to start so I had claude look at previous session feedback (where I'm yelling at claude to fix the same things all the time) + UI feedback Linear tickets + design crit transcripts + external examples + general UX/UI best practices to gather a bunch of possibilities to include, then had it create an artifact for me to edit, annotate, and grade each.
Gonna take some time to go through all 196 but it feels like a pretty good place to start and come out the other end with a solid v1.
