Rupert Murdoch wrote the following to his staff today:
“Elites have open contempt for those who are not members of their rarefied class. Most of the media is in cahoots with those elites, peddling political narratives rather than pursuing the truth.”
You couldn’t make it up.

Want to know why a country that has enough rain is so often short of water? Greed enabled by weak, ineffectual and complicit regulation. Yet another reason to be furious, I’m afraid, in today’s FT. ft.com/content/19caeb90-b5c9…

There is what might be described as an unfortunate side effect to the Bank of England’s policy of raising interest rates. It is that the UK’s main High Street banks might be paid £18 billion this year for sitting on money that the government quite literally gave them. A thread….

I'm still confused.
So @AnglianWater's new sewage plant in @camcitco is being built using taxpayers' money, £227m from govt's Housing Infrastructure Fund, and the Head of Major Infrastructure Planning at AW is married to the SoS for Health and Social Care.
Is that right?
So the £277m needed to build the new @camcitco sewage works is being funded by taxpayers, not @AnglianWater's shareholders, but the company will own the plant & therefore the asset value with the old works sold for development & AW keeping the cash from the sale.
That right?🤔

A 🧵on why oil companies don't invest in renewables, what the UK Government is now overtly doing to assist big oil, and what it should be doing. 1/

4/ The UK Gov is compounding the problem. It gives oil companies a tax rebate of £914,000 for every £1 million they invest - but *only* for new oil and gas projects, not for new renewables. Yes you read that right😮 Using our tax money to fund destruction.

A lot of gullible people are following this one to the conclusion that Farage was telling the truth - rather than the reality that Farage was always lying, but that it was *also* breathtakingly unprofessional for the CEO to discuss a customer's status with a journalist at a party
