One takeaway I have from this election is that for months people considered Dan Cox a viable contender. The media did this, democratic voters did this and republican voters did this. It was never true and never going to be true. So when people say “I didn’t vote green because they were not viable and there were only two viable candidates in the race.” They are part right, and we admitted that part from day 1, but DAN COX WAS NEVER VIABLE. Let me say again, Dan Cox was never viable and every indicator had a 99% certainty that he in fact would lose by more than 20%. But the belief that Dan Cox MIGHT be viable artificially inflated his numbers and Moore’s numbers. To that point, both parties and the media that props them up benefitted from the false notion that Dan Cox could be viable. Green and Working Class Party tickets both got record numbers and percentages of votes in modern history. But If the media had covered the race less like a two party horse race and more like a multi party race with disappointing candidates from the two parties, then I think both third party campaigns would have done even better.
