ALT Steph T. 5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Regency Romance with Haberdasher Cameos Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2023 I read anything by Sue London because I know I get characters who are whole, with heriones that are -- at least a little, often a LOT -- brave. This book is no exception. Lady Dorothea is widowed and awaits the new duke and her own fate. Angry at the sudden abandonment of her friends and family, she doesn't let that resentment fester, and keeps her daughter's future at the forefront. Once secured, she finds herself helping the new duke where (of course) sparks fly. I found Thea's range of emotions heartrending, and yet they all make sense. Sue London writes in ways that allow the issues and problems of a time period long past to be relatable in today's world. Reg is a swoonworthy hero in his own right. Who doesn't love a man who works his own land, enjoys reading and thinks the most exciting thing about being in London is the music and theater scene? Perfect.

ALT "I don’t think writers deserve residuals to be honest. Sorry. That’s not how scriptwriters should ever be paid. Higher fees maybe? Different perks in the process but very rare does any movie fan EVER bring up the actual scrip or story of a movie or television as a key factor. Internet doesn’t count!"
