This account is really annoying. A flour tortilla that you’re going to eat immediately “needs” 4 ingredients. Try putting that tortilla on the grocery shore shelf and see what happens.
Mission flour tortillas have 11 ingredients. A tortilla needs 4, flour, water, fat and salt. The bag lists enriched bleached flour, water, vegetable shortening made from interesterified and hydrogenated soybean oils, then 2% or less of salt, sugar, baking soda, sodium acid pyrophosphate, distilled monoglycerides, fumaric acid, calcium propionate and sorbic acid. The shortening is soybean oil that was hardened in a reactor so it acts like lard at room temperature. Baking soda and sodium acid pyrophosphate are a baking powder split in two, so the tortilla puffs on the hot plate in the plant. Distilled monoglycerides are an emulsifier. They keep the starch from going stale and hard, which is why a Mission tortilla is still soft weeks after you bought it. Fumaric acid drops the pH, and calcium propionate and sorbic acid stop mold in a bag that isn't refrigerated.

No, retirees should **not** have average incomes! They don't need it!! Their home should be paid off, they aren't raising children, and they no longer have to save for retirement! Let alone the impossible mathematics of giving non-workers an average income.
I'm not entirely sure that I think it's outrageous for people who have worked all their lives and educated you and worked to build the country you inherit to have a more or less average income in retirement.

I think no one in Britain feels like they are getting the standard of living that they'd expect from where they sit in salary distribution. And it's basically because of housing. The trip to Japan has never been cheaper but the 3 bed semi looks out of reach.
I earn £100 grand a year. I have a detached house. 2 cars and my wife is a full time home maker. I can just about afford this. I probably couldn’t afford the house I own if I was buying for the first time today. My salary puts me in the top 5% of earners in the UK. Top 5% to have a similar standard of living to Homer Simpson. That is a disgrace. We have a flatter salary distribution than Soviet Russia and the highest taxes and borrowing costs we’ve seen in generations. Success is almost impossible because our tax system means hard work makes you a stressed out tax cow, not wealthy and certainly not free. We need something radical. Less state. More family. Less handouts. More reward for risk. Instead. Tomorrow, Labour will offer another batch of policies which will send one message to aspirational Brits: why bother.

This was a culture shock for me when I first moved to India. I worked a tech sales job where the team was regularly lined up and scolded one by one, as if we were naughty kindergarteners. I resigned after one particularly degrading scolding because I thought I was working for a really shitty place. I later learnt that this is just what work culture is like in India. You have to learn to leave your dignity and self-respect at the front door if you want to survive. I've been explicitly called stupid, asked if I learnt to read in school when I sought clarification on a poorly worded brief, and been condescended to non-stop. Indian managers think it's their god-given right to treat their underlings like untouchables because they 'did their time' and got treated the same way, so they feel they've earned the right.
one of the most humiliating things about corporate life is watching a grown man get scolded like a child in front of his coworkers. we’re all adults trying to make a living. you can correct someone’s mistakes without stripping them of their dignity.

People talk about body dysmorphia in Hollywood/LA where many attractive people continually get cosmetic surgery. I feel there's a version of this in SF/tech of wealth dysmorphia where some never feel satisfied with how much money they make despite sizable financial success

at some point, you start to realise that people were just speaking for twitter points. the thing about a new space is that it moves fast and all your priors get shaken every few weeks/months. ignore the noise, they know just as much as you do for the most part
it's getting close to 2 years of coding agents being a thing looking back on that time the majority of discussion on here on where they're going, what's cutting edge, what matters has been primarily wrong you had to actively ignore what was going on here to win in this space

As I reported hours ago, Flávio Bolsonaro has arrived safely in United States. The mastermind behind this operation is U.S. Secretary of State @SecRubio . From the United States, free and safe, Flávio will lead the opposition against Lula.

LOL. "How did you know he was your soulmate?" "Um this clown was going to work for a sovereign wealth fund in Singapore and I made fun of him for being a loser so he then stayed in SF and did venture." Romance is not dead you guys. You've Got Mail vibes. xitter.cf/SOTAwives/status/21140…
How do you know there isn't a better soulmate out there? @vivianmshen on how her husband, an early investor in Anthropic, Mistral, OpenRouter, Black Forest labs and now founder of Amp was once a lost soul. Listen: youtube.com/watch?v=cpvozOFq…

Hermès, Ralph Lauren and now Prada using real artists in their campaigns and taking the extra measure of mentioning so in the caption is an upstream indicator that the authorities of luxury (read: high craftsmanship) at large decide to not let it be marred or cheapened by AI.
Prada’s new campaign! They hired Legendary ex-Disney artist John Pomery and even used his process sketches in the campaign🥹

Why are they using the Currys map of Manchester
GTA VI’s map is expected to be the largest in the franchise and real world estimates show it’s almost the size of a UK city - City of Manchester = ~116 km² - GTA VI land area = ~100 km²

Zoomers are habitually late to work, on their phones, and likely use some form of nicotine at their desk. This behavior is noticed by managers, who instead of confronting their- again- 23, 4, 5 year-old entry level report about it go directly to Bloomberg Business Week, I guess.

The most annoying issue with current agentic models is their hygiene. The way they pollute the system environment, don't rotate logs, archives and dumps, install packages uncontrollably, etc., really shows how they were trained in throwaway VMs and it really affects usability.
