Praise God for @JohnPiper. His preaching kept me from drifting into theological liberalism. I remember listening to a sermon on suffering and thinking, “I want what that man has.” It awakened me from an edgy flirtation with liberalism driven more by a desire to be transgressive than by serious theological reflection. His preaching helped anchor my theology in the glory of Christ.
For the time being, here is why I am openly supporting Republican candidates and actively opposing Democrat ones:
1) The Democrat Party is rabidly pro-abortion. Not only is this fundamentally immoral and contrary to this country’s founding on the God-given, natural, inalienable rights of LIFE, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. But at a time when the West is careening off a demographic cliff, this anti-natalism contributes to a weak society. We need to be finding ways to encourage families to have more children, not kill the ones they have been given by God.
2) The Democrat Party is insanely pro-LGBT. This includes being pro gay marriage and promoting men in women’s sports and boys in girls sports, and confusion regarding gender and public and private spaces like bathrooms, and the rest. LGBT ideology is also inherently sterile and anti-family, which further contributes to our social and demographic decline.
3) The Democrat party is openly flirting with Socialism, which is a PC way of embracing Marx’s project. More people need to read Hayek’s Road to Serfdom. Some of their candidates are openly socialist and even embrace aspects of communism. This is all patently un-American.
4) The Democrat party has also shown themselves to be, time and again, ashamed of and opposed to a strong military. Between cuts to funding and apologizing across the globe for American exceptionalism, this is demoralizing to our troops and leads to abysmal morale and recruitment, let alone material support. Democrats seem completely oblivious to growing geopolitical threats facing our country, including from Islam. Instead, Muslim groups routinely support Democrat candidates. And our enemies fund their campaigns because they know their victory means a weaker America on the world stage.
5) Finally, the Democrats have consistently promoted anti-law and order policies, including open borders and rallying behind “defund the police,” “empty the prisons” and “abolish ICE” campaigns. These messages are also demoralizing to our law enforcement officers and lead to abysmal retention and recruitment. When they are in charge, our cities are objectively more dangerous for my family and children.
These are the issues I consider when I think about voting, and these are the issues I hope you would consider too. While individual candidates may differ, the caucus affect of our two-party system is crystal clear. Our future together depends on it.
May justice roll down like waters.
🚨Today, Texas Children’s Hospital has officially launched their Detransition Clinic 🚨
Under the settlement, TCH must provide multidisciplinary detransition-related care FREE OF CHARGE for five years, including endocrinology, surgery, primary care, fertility counseling, mental health services, social work, and speech pathology.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude once again to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and my attorneys at the Burke Law Group for their extraordinary dedication, sacrifice, and tireless efforts throughout this fight. Their commitment helped turn a painful and difficult chapter into an opportunity for meaningful change. @KenPaxtonTX @BurkeLawTweets
I think of all the detransitioners who have suffered in silence, been dismissed, and fought desperately to have their voices heard. This win is for them.
I hope TCH’s admirable effort to fund and launch Americas first detransition clinic becomes a turning point for the entire country. That this clinic is not the exception, but the first of many.
Today’s a good day. ❤️

This is absolute bonkers and doesn’t represent Kansas at all. Reject Hamilton, vote Marshall.

SEE FOR YOURSELF: Adam Hamilton’s church urges kids’ ministry staff to replace “boys and girls” for gender-neutral language inspired by LGBTQ+ activists. With names like “niblings” and “morning glories” — this is child grooming.
Hamilton is too extreme for Kansas and a vote for him is a vote to hand our state over to the radical left.
Protect Kansas values. Vote Roger Marshall.

“Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men.”
Happy Reformation Day!
“Abortion is health care” = “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians”
Idolatrous sloganeering.
Abortion is health care.
And those health care decisions should be made by a woman and her doctor — not by the federal government, and certainly not by Donald Trump.
So long as I’m Governor, abortion will remain safe, legal, and accessible here in Pennsylvania. And I will always protect a woman’s fundamental freedom to make her own decisions about her body.
This is existential.
The nuclear family is disappearing in parts of America’s biggest cities, per a new Institute for Family Studies report.
In some neighborhoods of Cleveland, Washington, D.C., Milwaukee and Detroit, fewer than 1 in 4 households with children are headed by married couples.
The biggest “marriage desert” is South Central and Southeast Detroit, where just 13% of householders are married.
On the first day of class, Dr. Parker would hand out his academic pedigree traced back to Calvin. I am thankful for this, as now I can do the same for my students having sat under his instruction, connecting us all to a Great Tradition.
RIP
I am saddened to learn that my former @SBTS professor, Dr. James Parker, passed away last night. Dr. Parker had an extraordinary academic pedigree. He studied at Baylor, Trinity, Princeton, Basel, and Johns Hopkins, and he delighted in pointing out that he could trace his academic lineage through generations of teachers all the way back to John Calvin.
What made this even more endearing was how lightly he wore all of it. While many of his colleagues built substantial publishing careers, Dr. Parker often joked that one of his great contributions to scholarship was a 2001 Baptist Press article about Santa Claus. He could trace his academic lineage to Calvin, but he was far more likely to tell you a funny story than to remind you of his credentials.
During my years as a student at Southern Seminary, Dr. Parker became a regular part of my life. I joined his shepherding group as an M.Div. student—admittedly, in part because I had heard he took his students to a very nice Brazilian steakhouse at the end of the semester. Later, during my doctoral studies, I worked in the School of Theology, and it was almost guaranteed that Dr. Parker would stop by for an hour or more to talk and tell stories. He seemed to know nearly every significant evangelical figure of the twentieth century, and his stories about them were endlessly entertaining.
Dr. Parker also somehow convinced the dean to let professors eat in the seminary dining hall for half price, which meant that over my five years as an on-campus student, I shared literally hundreds of meals with him. He taught one of my doctoral colloquium, but some of the most important things I learned from him came outside the classroom. Dr. Parker taught me, among other things, not to take myself too seriously.
For several years I lived at the Duck and Goose, a house long associated with men preparing for ministry at Southern. Dr. Parker told me that years earlier the men there had hosted professors for dinner, and he encouraged my roommates and me to revive the tradition—with the understanding, of course, that he would be the first professor invited. We gladly obliged and hosted him several times.
I am grateful for the classes, the meals, the long conversations, the stories, and the friendship. Southern Seminary has lost one of its great characters, and I will miss him.

« Ce qui s’est passé aujourd’hui c’est un tournant. C’est la première fois qu’il y a un acte terroriste planifié pour tuer nos compatriotes, nos enfants, a raison de leur couleur de peau ou de la religion qu’on leur donne » « Ne baissez pas la tête »
Emmanuel Macron à Trappes.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know

General rule of thumb for voting in America:
You shouldn’t vote for any Muslim. Their religion definitionally commits them to a social-moral order incompatible with our Republic.
You shouldn’t vote for a candidate just because they claim to be Christian.
You should vote for candidates whose policy proposals and platforms align with what is just and prudent and contributes to human flourishing and the common good.
Heretics of a feather flock together.
I am a husband, father, and lifelong Texan. I’ve been a Christian since I was 5 and a pastor since I was 19.
And I just proudly voted for James Talarico, Gina Hinojosa, Jon Rosenthal, and Vikki Goodwin.
While it’s true that Ken Paxton is as corrupt and morally bankrupt as they come, Greg Abbott has decimated our public schools, Dan Patrick is bought and paid for by right-wing billionaires, and Bo French wears his racism on his sleeve, I didn’t just vote AGAINST candidates I know will do a bad job. I had the privilege of voting FOR candidates who will do a great job!
I originally connected with Jimmy Talarico many years ago (long before he got famous) and we became friends shortly after. He’s the exact same guy in private as he is in public—kindhearted, whip smart, hardworking, and very serious about following Jesus’ call to care for all people, especially the most vulnerable. That’s who he’s been in ministry, in the Texas Legislature, and I have no doubt that’s who he’ll be as a United States Senator too.
I’ve also gotten to speak with Gina Hinojosa, Jon Rosenthal, and Vikki Goodwin this year. I believe they will fight for two things that are very important to my family and so many people in our church community:
1. An economy where every Texan can afford to have their basic needs met.
2. Fully funded public schools where all children can thrive.
I’m not telling you who to vote for; I’m just telling you who I chose to vote for and why.
We are in a critical moment in both the United States and Texas, so I hope you vote. And if you are a follower of Jesus, I hope you see your vote as a way to prioritize the way of Jesus—sacrificial love of neighbor and justice for those who have been marginalized.
Especially when his candidate’s greatest hits are, “Repent for eating beef and driving a truck!” and being pro-LGBT and pro-abortion.

This @politico article takes as its starting point that Kansas journalists are too stupid to report the news without the “help” of @tysonbrody. It’s an insult and will not help the coverage of his candidate in the last week of the election. #ksleg
I will sing of the steadfast love of the Lord forever;
with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations.
For I said, “Steadfast love will be built up forever;
in the heavens you will establish your faithfulness.”
You have said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one;
I have sworn to David my servant:
‘I will establish your offspring forever,
and build your throne for all generations.’ ”
Psalm 89:1-4
