Just to remind those who voted for the coalition. You voted for poverty, people living on streets, high unemployment especially for the young, ERs collapsing, people waiting for cancer treatment, water pollution, abuse of conservation land, and trashing our Treaty partners.

What a strange election this has been and still is, with final results outstanding. But National has had a trashing by losing three key Ministers who assumed an unholy amount of power and arrogance during their term. I won't miss any of them.

This was deliberate. Yes they’re incompetent & cruel. But they have also deliberately collapsed the economy in order to privatise what they can to enrich the wealthy in this country. Vote them out!

Labour scarring: if you have been sidelined in the job market for too long. Over 20% of the unemployed in NZ have been so for over a year. New unemployment data (5.6%) point to a growing problem. Why NZ faces worst 'labour scarring' risk since 1990s rnz.co.nz/news/business/2332…

Youth unemployment at 25.3% is the highest in 30 years. The median wage is $62,000. A youth benefit is about $15,000. If parents who earn just $67,000 are to suppport their unemployed child then their income will drop 16.1% below the median wage. Meanwhile the wealthiest income earners in Aotearoa are paying less than half the tax of middle income earners. Way to go National, Act and NZ First. rnz.co.nz/news/politics/2302…

Feeling elevated after imbibing half a bottle of champagne to celebrate the Democrats' win in the US. Does it get any better? Feeling so relieved. Now we just need to throw out our lot.

This is New Zealand today. We let homeless people be moved on by the police with no shelter to go to. We take the dole and independence away from young people in a time with massive unemployment for that age group and from those who suffer from illness. Despicable.
Today, NZ starts kicking 18 and 19 year olds, including those with cancer, intellectual disabilities and other health conditions, off the benefit. Chris Bishop kicked people onto the street. Goldsmith criminalised homelessness. They deserve worse than losing their seats.

National's late campaign messaging of 'stick to the plan' is a strange choice when a) what plan? Like, actually, what's the plan? b) people don't like how things are going and how National's running things

Kiwis families can now be paying almost $6,000 extra per year compared to three years ago. New Zealand can’t afford another three years of National when they promised to fix the cost of living put more in everyone's back pocket in whats turned out to be a blatant lie and con job.

Labour is ranking ahead of National on 19 of the top 20 issues on voters’ minds, including all the top 5. A good way to start the last week of the election campaign. nzherald.co.nz/nz/politics/e… #nzpol

Must be boring being a billionaire. They can't have enough to do, so spend time dreaming up how to interfere in other people's lives so they can take advantage. They could do a mind blowing amount of good for humanity.

A succinct answer why Luxon won't go on Q+A.
Replying to @jacktame
He won't go on Q+A because you'd ask him why 1/3 of families are food insecure, y we've we got the highest no of homeless ever, why 50,000 more kids live in poverty How he'll create 220,000 jobs when his record is minus 35,000. Every other govt in 40yrs added 34,000 on av, yrly.

By shifting the debt burden primarily onto the private sector (businesses and households), New Zealand has achieved a curious but somewhat devastastating record in the OECD. Somehow we always seem to be the major outlier.
Replying to @MusicalChairs14
Oh, wait, let's just add the household and business debt up to get the total private sector deficit... Woohoo- top of the league. Great work Bolger, Shipley, Clark, Key, English, Ardern, Hipkins, Luxon, and all the economic advisors that misadvised you. [3/n]

Unpopular opinion but a country's wealth and success should be measured by how well its poorest live, not by how obscenely rich its richest are.

“This isn’t a competent government with a plan to fix the economy. Its record instead is of economic mismanagement, privatisation by stealth, crony corruption, climate denialism, expensive populist promises, abject incompetence in health & a still-rising cost of living.” @simonbwilson’s blistering indictment of current #NZ govt: simonwilsonhopetown.substack… #nzpol
