You don't have to prove your innocence Shane, they have to prove your guilt, and they have to prove it beyond reasonable doubt.
Brand wasn't convicted because someone made a statement he couldn't disprove. If you can stomach it, read the transcripts of his trial.
My professional experience matches the figures, less than 3% of all rapes reported to the police (historic or otherwise) result in someone being charged, because it's very difficult to meet the threshold for charging.
Around 70% of charges result in a conviction.
In theory a single statement from an alleged victim can meet the charging threshold (Full Code Test) but it very rarely happens, and it certainly didn't with Brand.
In the case of historic rapes we look for documented or institutional links, disclosure witnesses and bad character, or pattern evidence. We'll compare credibility and memory fading to ensure the
We also conduct highly detailed achieve best evidence interviews with the alleged victim which are scrutinised for discrepancies, then compare them to, amongst other things, the accused's responses in their interview.
It's far more complicated than this word salad has explained, but essentially, someone in your past having a grudge against you isn't going to get you in the dock.
The three c's - (convincing, compelling and consistent) are hard to achieve in a fictional, malicious or facetious statement.
Sorry this was so long, it's as short as I could make it.

Whilst Nigel Farage tries to distance himself from Trump and his Iran war, let’s not forget his support for Trump and his Iran war.

Ah yes, the Growth Commission, that famously independent body set up by you under a Director who happens to be your Press Secretary, with the sole purpose of defending your mad budget and bonkers economic ideas.

"#SizewellC stitch-up is looking increasingly radioactive. MPs’ report on the £40bn #nuclear power plant points out obvious flaws that leave taxpayers on the hook and give investors a golden rod.
“Sizewell C represents a terrible deal for the UK taxpayer.” Private companies were hardly queuing up to invest in Sizewell C. As the PAC points out, no nuke “anywhere in the world” with the similar “European pressurised reactor” design “has come out on budget”. France’s Flamanville 3 and Finland’s Olkiluoto 3? Fourteen years late and costing at least “300 per cent” more than forecast. As the PAC puts it: “Consumers and taxpayers shoulder significant financial risks, while private investors enjoy protected profits.”

STATEMENT FROM JACK CAMPBELL
My family and I want to sincerely thank everyone for the overwhelming amount of love, prayers, and support we’ve received over the past few days. It means more to us than words can express.
I’m incredibly encouraged by the progress I’ve made in such a short period of time. I have full movement in my lower body, and I’m continuing to make progress with movement in my upper body. I know there’s still work ahead, but I remain very optimistic. I’m taking things one day at a time, staying positive, and focusing on getting better.
My faith in God has never been stronger. I know He has a plan for me, and I trust in that plan. I know there may be challenges ahead, but with my faith, my family, and so many people in my corner, I know we’ll get through this.
I especially want to thank the athletic trainers and medical personnel who responded and cared for me on the field. I know those were difficult moments, and I’m incredibly grateful for the professionalism, compassion, and care you showed me. The way you handled everything and looked after me when I needed it most is something I’ll never forget. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
I also can’t say enough about the incredible care I’ve received from the medical team at Henry Ford Hospital and the Detroit Lions medical staff. They’ve been amazing to me and my family throughout this process, and I’m truly grateful for everything they’ve done.
To my teammates, coaches, and everyone in the Lions organization, I want you to know how much I love and appreciate you. This team is a family to me, and the way everyone has been there for me means everything. I’m proud to be a Detroit Lion and couldn’t ask to be surrounded by a better group of people.
One thing I’ve learned about Detroit is that this city is built on toughness, resilience, and grit. That’s exactly how I’m going to approach this challenge.
Please continue to keep me and my family in your prayers. We feel the love, and I can’t thank everyone enough.
God is good. My faith is strong.

At some point, I crossed over 50K followers here, which feels like a good time to express some gratitude.
Appreciate every single one of you and your support. I have my dream job because of you. I will do everything in my power to not take that for granted.

The problem with today’s world is that everyone believes they have the right to express their opinion and have others listen to it.
The correct statement of individual rights is that everyone has the right to an opinion, but, crucially, that opinion can be roundly ignored and even made fun of, particularly if it is demonstrably nonsense.
