Progressive are demanding 84,698 mandated units NJ by the year 2035* If a typical new mandated NJ townhome is ~1,400 sq ft of living space and uses roughly 1,900 sq ft of land per unit (building + driveway + shared areas) And you times this by the perspective need....That's 3,700 acres of our land! About the size of Hoboken 😳 Now, developers typically only put 15-20% of these developments as mandated housing, let's go w/ the estimated 15%. The size of the developments will be roughly 24,646 acres developers want take or an area 1.7× the size of Manhattan 😳 But wait, it gets worse.... Because you can’t ignore roads, sidewalks, stormwater ponds, and the little parks as well Add this 35% real-world overhead and that ≈ 32,039 acres (50 square miles) — roughly the size of Hudson County!
