Despite the overwhelming negative reaction to this, at least it doesn't show nuclear families 'happily' gathered round a large table groaning with mountains of ready-made 'seasonal' food - a well worn Christmas cliché.
So the plot of the John Lewis 2026 advert is as follows. Grandmother opens door to her obnoxious, rude and badly behaved grandchildren who proceed to trash her house. Motivated to distract them in some way she searches out a cherished Christmas wooden toy from the attic. But that fails to impress the little shits either. So she resorts to buy the entire Christmas stock of her local John Lewis store to bedeck a room in her London W1 townhouse with wonderment costing £ thousands. Only then do the spoilt little brats show any emotional engagement. What message does this put out, eh?
Also - do the bills look quite yellow/orange rather than pink?

I think they’re more of a domestic descent as both Snow Geese species have black primaries. It’s rare for them to be pure white and more so for the whole group to display the same unusual plumage

What's the difference between that and ticking a bird seen through a scope or bins?
Oh and visually impaired birders; are their lists any less valid?
I am dumbfounded by many of the comments in response to this. I sincerely believe that if the BBC goes there is no existing alternative broadcaster that will make up for its absence. I wonder if anyone here actually listens to BBC radio or The World Service.
So BBC Three, Scotland and R4 Extra are going. We are watching the death by a thousand cuts of a great British institution.
From major sporting events, to national celebrations, the BBC has a unique ability to bring the country together. But, successive Governments have left our BBC in a state of managed decline.
@LibDems are calling for a permanent charter to end this cyclical uncertainty hanging over the BBC’s future and protect it for generations to come.
Once the BBC is gone, it is gone for good. It's time we made the choice to save it.
