Most popular number in research might be p < 0.05 Probably also one of the most misunderstood! Consider two studies: → Study A finds a tiny effect with p = 0.001. → Study B finds a potentially important effect, but the confidence interval is wide and includes no effect. Which deserves more attention? The answer depends on the research question, the uncertainty, and what difference the effect would make in practice. A p-value alone cannot settle that. This is a simple visual explaining what p-values and confidence intervals actually tell us. Worth keeping nearby when reading or writing research papers. ---------------- 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐭 𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐥? High blood pressure is a silent but serious threat — and knowing your numbers can save your life. Check your blood pressure regularly and track your readings over time. Aim to keep your blood pressure below 140/90 mmHg — and remember: the lower, the better for your heart, brain, and kidneys. Taking action today protects your health tomorrow. Know your numbers. Take control. Stay healthy.

Research proposal for PhD Application VS Dissertation/Thesis Proposal….Many applicants confuse the two. (link to full document for free) They serve completely different purposes and require very different levels of detail. ⸻ ➜ The PhD Application Research Proposal This is what you submit before admission. Its purpose is simple: → Convince the committee that you have a clear direction, scholarly maturity, and a feasible research interest. It is not a full research plan. It is a conceptual map. Think of it as: ➤ Your intellectual “audition.” ⸻ ➜ The PhD Dissertation Proposal (After Admission) This is what you write after 1–2 years of coursework, training, and committee meetings. Its purpose is different: → convince your committee that your dissertation is rigorous, grounded, ethical, and methodologically sound. It is not conceptual; it is technical, detailed, and exact. Think of it as: ➤ Your “contract” with your committee. ⸻ Your application proposal gets you into the program. Your dissertation proposal gets you out of it. Both matter; but they are not the same. —————— End —————— Full document available here linkedin.com/posts/baak_rese…
