It seems to me that our governments are enthusiastically doing the bidding of an international network of psychopathic megalomaniacs. If you have a better explanation for the state of the world today, please let me know.

The idea that this chap was an economist with the Treasury and the DWP chills the blood.
Nope, that’s not how taxes and price works. The price is determined by demand and supply. Companies charge the highest price they can given demand. A tax levied on *profits* does not affect a company’s cost ie supply. Taxes on *windfall* profits (like oil and gas) are the most efficient kind of tax there is.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Corporate profit taxes do not directly shift marginal costs but empirical studies show partial pass-through into higher consumer prices. Windfall taxes on oil and gas have deterred investment and production in practice despite theoretical efficiency on rents. dadun.unav.edu/server/api/cor… ecb.europa.eu/pub/pdf/scpwps… taxfoundation.org/blog/big-oil-p… scottishfinancialreview.com/2025/09/03/win…

I'd like to make a statement on behalf of the recipients of this inflamatory letter who may be too polite or shy to respond. @HMRCgovuk @HMRCcustomers We don't want a 'relationship' with anyone in your department whatsoever. We, through our tax advisers, will pay what is legally due, not a penny less and certainly not a penny more. Then we want you to fuck off out of our lives.
🚨 IN FULL - HMRC letter to wealthy Britons : "I hope we can build an open and productive working relationship" 🤡

Over £27m every year to pay people for doing nothing. And they tell us it’s impossible to lower taxes!
Major investigation from The Sunday Times - the Scottish state is paying a minimum of £27m a year to around 800 public sector workers, in the NHS, councils, police etc who do not have a job, but they cannot be made redundant owing to SNP policy thetimes.com/uk/scotland/art…

For the new P1 school bags, Scottish businesses are again being sidelined in favour of China. FM says he supports Scottish manufacturing & whilst 1 or 2 of his supporters will clamour to defend this; they must remember this is SCOTTISH TAXPAYERS' money being directed overseas.

It might work. But it might not. There's no plan B...

In 2022 a shockingly empty chamber of the House of Commons for my debate. It was the Worlds first parliamentary debate on ‘Excess Deaths’ following the Covid ‘vaccine’ rollout. Something which affected every community and every constituency in the country, but your ‘elected representatives’ were not interested. But the BBC were interested and added their own subtitles/captions ( displayed in the images) to the live broadcast. I subsequently had a complaint to OFCom against the BBC upheld. The BBC said they added their own subtitles/captions to give ‘context’ to my speech. The BBC have never done this before or since to any speech by an MP in the House of Commons. It was clearly preplanned and the subtitles/captions were mostly unrelated to what I was saying. Following this outrageous behaviour by the BBC I cancelled my TV licence and gave away my televisions. Now they want all of us to pay the BBC tax again through a tax on our internet access.

What he said. I think every small business owner thinks exactly the same.
That's funny because at my last strategy meeting with my accountant, they informed me I must use HMRC-recognised Making Tax Digital compatible software, creating an oligopoly for firms like Xero. I must now also report my company's income every three months rather than once a year, as well as a final report at year end. So I now have to pay for a Xero subscription. And pay my accountant more for the increased submissions. And fuck about with reconciling every three months, rather than once a year. For HMRC to end up with the same amount of income from me as before. Fuck off. Just fuck off. Fuck off all the way back to Yorkshire, then fuck off some more.

'An estimated 4,354 died in heatwaves' Whoever did the estimating was WRONG. How do we know? The ONS counts the corpses. And despite all the scaremongering, there was absolutely nothing unusual about the death rate in Summer 2026. Mr Ramsay was either misled..or misled himself. That's fine...but a man in his position shouldn't try to mislead US. Be more careful! We see you! @AdrianRamsay
This death toll should be treated as the national scandal it is. An estimated 4,354 people have died in UK heatwaves since June. The Government has yet to explain how, or what it will do to be ready before next summer.

As a techy guy, the question in my mind isn't "which rogue states are hacking food companies and retailers and distributors?" It's: "why is critical infrastructure like food supply on the public internet and vulnerable to other states in the first place?" So many things are on the internet or in The Cloud that shouldn't be, and/or don't need to be. We need to Make Firewalled On Premise Data Centres And Private Intranets Great Again. Vote MFOPDCAPIGA !

My report makes six key recommendations: Fix the broken understanding of how the gas market works. Policymakers should recognise that British gas production is not sold on global markets at a global price. The GB gas market uses marginal pricing and additional domestic production displaces more expensive LNG imports, thereby reducing British gas prices. The report argues that claims that additional UK production cannot affect domestic prices are simply wrong. Increase UK Continental Shelf gas production. Domestic gas should be preferred to imports wherever possible. UKCS gas is both cheaper and cleaner than imported LNG and provides a secure source of supply directly connected to the British gas network. Reduce reliance on electricity imports. Britain is increasingly depending on electricity imports during periods of low domestic renewable generation. However, highly correlated weather patterns mean low wind generation in Britain can coincide with shortages elsewhere. The report warns that Norway and France cannot be assumed to provide unlimited electricity to their neighbours during periods of stress. Model gas and electricity security together. The gas grid transports far more energy than the electricity network. Electrifying heating will take decades while gas-fired generation will remain critical to electricity security for years to come. The report argues that planning should recognise the interdependencies of gas and electricity to a greater extent. Focus on cheap energy. Rapidly rising network costs are overtaking fuel costs as the main driver of energy bills. The report calls for tighter control of network expenditure and for the suspension of the Connect & Manage regime, arguing that consumers should not be required to fund expensive infrastructure whose output is frequently constrained or wasted. Treat energy security as national security. The government should subject energy policy to an explicit national-security test, prioritising resilience, diversity of supply, sufficient domestic energy capacity and the preservation of strategically important industrial capability alongside affordability and sustainability. watt-logic.com/wp-content/up…

It’s official: a legal investigation has found engineers in Britain’s electricity grid control room are stressed because renewables make it so hard to keep the lights on. And when they raise concerns, managers won’t listen - they only want “good news” thetimes.com/article/413d547…
