Trump says he doesn’t want immigrants from Norway because he didn’t get the Nobel Peace Prize. “Norway sucks. Norway has become a shithouse country.”

Mark Carney: "It's sobering that this is the first time in over two decades that first ministers and First Nations have met together. This is an important opportunity, yes, to share perspectives, to listen, to learn, but above all, to commit to action. So let's seize this opportunity."

🇬🇧🇪🇺 Brexit is over. The EU will offer the UK a new interim agreement at the November summit. The UK will accept, allowing it to integrate into certain areas of the EU. Reintegration will happen (formally or in practice) over the comming years Even without formally rejoining, the plan is for the UK to return in practice through steps that do not require a referendum. Europe must be united.

Farage touchy on the Brexit question. He points to US GDP growth. The US has *so many* huge problems (not just its colossal debt) brewing, that that GDP level and recent growth are powered by dangerous borrowing and speculation. I’d feel economically safer in the EU than US.
Nigel Farage says, "the opportunities of Brexit have not been delivered." Sky's @serenabarksing questions the Reform UK leader on the impacts of Brexit. trib.al/fSNJdA2 📺 Sky 501

Re-upping this Makerfield focus group from last week in light of headlines around PM re-opening convo on EU. I thought he’d get a Brexit backlash. But my big surprise in group was that nearly all these leave voters had regret & open to PM’s look again m.youtube.com/watch?v=7JdmZQ…
Nearly 100 days into Andy Burnham's premiership, @BethRigby returns to Makerfield - the constituency that propelled him into No 10 - to ask whether the goodwill that carried him to victory is holding. Watch the full report on Sky News: trib.al/ao51rWX

I don’t think I ever believed I’d see a newspaper paragraph like this: President Trump ‘said he would welcome immigrants from Denmark but not from Norway “because ‌I didn’t get the Nobel Prize, so I don’t want anybody from Norway”.’

Not sure what’s the worse look. Nigel Farage publicly running down his own people. Or Robert Jenrick sycophantically laughing and clapping along as he does it.

Freedom of Movement is NOT freedom to stay unconditionally. EU countries are within their rights to apply conditions eg employment after 3 months etc. So the idea that 500m people could come to the UK and live on benefits is a lie.

🇺🇸 Pete Hegseth just got absolutely humiliated by Senator Tammy Duckworth! Senator Tammy Duckworth, a retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel who lost both legs while serving in Iraq, challenged Hegseth: "I'm glad you brought that up. Can you name a single country that belongs to ASEAN and explain what agreement we have with it? And, by the way, how many countries are in ASEAN? Frankly, I'm not sure you even know who our allies are." Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth: "Well, I can't give you the exact number, but I certainly know our allies in South Korea, Japan, and Australia..." Senator Duckworth: "None of the countries you just mentioned are members of ASEAN. I suggest you do your homework before engaging in these discussions." And this is the kind of clueless bullshit running the Pentagon. Absolutely unbelievable.

Slovak PM Robert Fico is becoming Europe’s JD Vance: wherever Fico lends his support, an authoritarian falls. We hope to enjoy the same sight in Slovakia next autumn, as Serbs have made happen to Vučić today 🙌🏻 Wishing Serbia every success in building a truly European democracy!

How did Lula come from behind to crush Bolsonaro? In short, turnout. Bolsonaro's vote share barely moved. Lula banked millions of votes from those who didn't vote in 1st round and won eliminated candidates' votes. A remarkable mobilisation. 2nd round turnout usually below 1st.

It’s perfect. Mutual Free Movement means the job market just gets a lot bigger for them. They may even gain broader experiences and bring back transferable skills.
40% of under 24s in London who are not in education are not in work, seems like an odd time to increase migration
